There are certain tools and equipment that every eatery needs and it is recommended that ensure that you are neither underequipped nor have made unnecessary investments. Here are some of the basic essentials that you must have when launching a food business.
Microwave Oven
Regardless of the size and nature of your eatery, a commercial-grade microwave oven is a must-have. If you are expecting a higher turnover, you might want to have more than one microwave oven. Microwave ovens offer great support when your stoves are burdened with food preparations and they allow reheating much quicker and in a more efficient manner.
Oven
A lot of dishes and desserts rely on baking and therefore a commercial-grade oven is a must. Whether you are serving pizzas, lasagne or cakes and pastries, you cannot do without ovens. For smaller eateries, a single commercial-grade oven should be enough. However, make sure that you do not rely on your regular household oven for that purpose.
Refrigerator
This one is a no brainer. There is rarely an eatery where people would not want a cold beverage. A commercial-grade refrigerator is not only important for storing beverages but also to store perishable items. If you have a large number of perishable ingredients that need to be stored such as milk or meat, you might need turnover larger cold storage or chilling facility and a basic refrigerator might not be enough.
Coffee Machine
Although the number of coffee machines that you will need will depend on your turnover, invest in a good quality coffee brewing equipment. Ideally, go for a machine that allows greater output in lesser time, and is easy to maintain. A machine that allows you greater control would be a plus.
Ice Machines
You might wonder why would you need separate ice machines when you already have a freezer and refrigerator. Your refrigerator will have a limited output capacity when it comes t producing ice. Also, it takes some time until it prepares ice and your customer will not wait until then. Ice is something that has a lot of demand and customer will be put off if you delay serving the ice or excuse for the unavailability. Commercial Ice Machines offer an excellent solution to the problem by providing you icecubes on demand.
Chef Knives
No matter how good your equipment is, every chef and a culinary expert will stress the importance of a good set of knives. There are different knives meant for different purposes, and it is strongly recommended that you get a good quality set of knives. If your eatery has more than one chefs or food preparation staff, get knives accordingly to avoid slowing down the food preparation process.
