Republicans Should be "Scared" After Democrats Take Over Delaware Election
In Delaware County, a suburb of Philadelphia, the last time a Democrat took hold the government is during the end of the Civil War. But now, things are slowly changing in the sub-urbs. In the recent Delaware election, Republicans took a step back after the Democrats finally took over.
During the Delaware election, the Democrats dominated the Republicans in two sub-areas in Philadelphia as they show their dominance in Chester County's board of commissioners for the first time in the history and in the Buck's County board of commissioners since 1980s.
The dominance of Republicans in U.S. is the result of President Donald Trump's rhetoric especially in the new immigration policy that limits the number of immigrants in the country. On the other hand, the former Republican National Committee strategist Douglas Heye claimed this is not a good omen for the Republicans.
According to Heye, the Delaware election results should "scare" Republicans in the sub-urb areas as it will impact President Trump's candidacy in 2020 elections. Heye added that more data suggests that it is very significant that there are more Republicans now in the sub-urb areas especially during the Philadelphia election.
Aside from the dominance of Republicans in Philadelphia Elections, a Democratic challenger won in the sub-urb areas in Kentucky despite the support of President Trump to his Republican candidate Governor Matt Bevin. Meanwhile, in Virginia, the Democrats also show a total control in the government.
In a report from The Morning Jolt, that this is the third straight year where the Republicans have disappointing Election day. The Morning Jolt confirms the lost of Matt Bevin by about 5,000 votes. However, behind the disparity of turn-outs, Matt Bevin did not still concede and may ask for a recanvas if he is willing to shoulder the expenses and its cost.
In the history of U.S. elections, if the candidate is about 10 or more points behind the opponent there might be unique problems and undoubtedly Bevin has it. Bevin tried to unify the Kentucky voters specially during his campaign rally where President Trump endorsed him. President Trump said during the rally that if Bevin lost the elections the media will say that Trump suffered his greatest political career but Trump believed that it will not happen in Kentucky.
The Democrats also nuked the Republicans in Virginia. As of now, they have a total control in the entire state legislature and will pass new liberal ideas into law that includes the new gun-control provisions and the expansion of the Medicaid.
According to the election analyst from University of Virgina Kyle Kondik, the dominance of Republicans in the sub-urb areas is almost the same during Trump's era in small rural areas and small towns. Kondik added that the problems of Republicans in the sub-urb areas, rural areas and in small towns must not be neglected because those were big problems that willl have a big impact in Trump's re-election bid in 2020.
