Former President Jimmy Carter under Recovery from Successful Surgery
The former president of the United States of America, Jimmy Carter is now recovering from surgery. His surgery on Thursday was conducted to ease the pressure on his brain.
Former President Carter recently turned 95 last month. He is the first United States President to reach such age.
According to the statement of The Carter Center, there were "no complications" that arose from the operation and that the former president is currently on the process of recovery at the Emory University Hospital.
"President Carter will remain in the hospital as long as advisable for observation. We do not anticipate any further statements until he is released from the hospital. President and Mrs. Carter thank everyone for the many well-wishes they have received," said the Carter Center on a tweet.
Based on the statement released by The Carter Center on Monday, the pressure on the brain of the former president's was caused by bleeding from some of his recent falls.
Former president Jimmy Carter is the oldest living former leader of the United States of America. It was reported that he had acquired a minor pelvic fracture after a fall from his residence in Plains, Georgia last October.
The 39th president of the United States had announced in August of 2015 that he had cancer and a mass was removed from his liver. After a couple of months, he had announced to the public that his cancer was gone.
Another fall incident was on October 6 when he fell and the impact of his fall was on his forehead. It was reported he had hit his forehead on a sharp edge located at his home. The incident had resulted in fourteen stitches and a bruised eye.
One of the statements about the former president includes, "President Carter is resting comfortably, and his wife, Rosalynn, is with him".
On Tuesday, the tourists who were visiting the Carter Center Museum located in Atlanta expressed their admiration for the persistence of the former president despite the presence of health scares and complicated medical measures. Despite his situation, former president Carter still include in his time to teach in Sunday school for his church. He also a lot some of his time to help construct home with the organization Habitat for Humanity.
Former President Jimmy Carter had already announced that he will not be attending the Sunday Service at his church for the weekend to recover from his operation.
"You look at all these other presidents and what they did after they got out of their presidency; he is just driving them into the ground. He's constantly busy doing stuff," said William Willkom, a citizen who had traveled with his wife from Minnesota to just see The Carter Center.
"I respect the man and all that he's done for people," said Annette Dillingham, 70. "I don't want anybody to hurt. When God decides that it's time for him to go and he doesn't have anything left for Jimmy to do here, it's OK," said Annette Dillingham, a citizen from Texas who was worried about the health of the former president.
