Lincoln Financial Field was field with fans on Sunday as the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles met again for their rematch in a Superbowl LII rematch. It was indeed a great game as both teams gave tight plays and defensive plays. However, Patriots' defense stood out defeating the Eagles in a 17-10 score.

Julian Edelman, a former quarterback at Kent State, threw a touchdown pass during the remaining 10:55 in the third quarter to Philip Dorsett to give the Patriots their first lead in the game. It was followed by successful two touchdowns that led the Patriots into a 2 point margin at the end of the game. Meanwhile, one of the reasons why the offense of Eagles did not work is due to the absence of Alshon Jeffrey and Jordan Howard because of injury.

In an article published in USA Today they gave three factors why the Patriots won over the Eagles based from their sports analyst.

Here are the analysis of the sports analyst:

1. Fireworks were few and far between

  • Patriots and Eagles both struggled offensively
  • Star players like Carson Wentz was still injured back in their game on February 2018.
  • Quarterbacks of both teams were struggling
  • Eagles converted only 3 touchdowns out of 13 attempts while 5 touchdowns out of 16 attempts.

2. Familiar needs all around

  • Two of the star players of Eagles are still injured. De Sean Jackson is on the injured reserve while Alshon Jeffery has an ankle injury.
  • Eagles need to fill the absence of Rob Gronkowski due to his retirement

3. The defense deserve credit

  • The Patriots is known as the number one defensive team in NFL.

In another article from the CBSS Sports, they also gave their own analysis why the Patriots won and the Eagles lost the game.

Here are the analysis of the CBSS Sports:

Why the Patriots won the game?

  • Patriots depleted the Eagles after spotting them in a 10 point lead during the first 17:24, but what helped the Patriots is their defensive skill- Patriots is the number 1 defensive team in NFL. The Patriots erased the 10 point lead of the Eagles with 17 points unanswered touchdowns.

Why the Eagles lost the game?

  • Their star players are still injured and Jason Peters left the game. Meantime, Miles Sanders almost missed half of the fourth quarter due to an injury. The most intriguing part of the game is when the head coach of the Eagles Doug Pederson decided to abandon the game plan. Pederson chose to have a wide pass unit instead of staying in the original game plan.

Turning point of the game

  • The Patriots was given a chance to give a lead in the game because Lane Johnson from Eagles left the game during 2nd quarter due to a head injury. Wentz did not also played well this time because of the immense pressure and defense given to him by the Patriots.

Play of the game

  • Jenkins bites the backward pass and this allow Dorsett to get open and throw a touchdown. Eagles defined it as the Superbowl win.
