Rosalia Wins Big at the 20th Annual Latin Grammy Awards
The 20th Annual Latin Grammy Awards recognize the outstanding achievement of Latinos around the world who made an impact in the entertainment industry.
The three-hour live telecast in this year's Latin Grammy Awards was held at MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas on November 14.
The big winner of the night is...
Album of the year was awarded to Rosalia. She is known for her beautiful blend of flamenco music. She is also the first solo female performer to win the top honor since Shakira won in 2013.
In an article published in Hispanic Network, Rosalia said that winning Album of the Year is the best thing that can happen to a singer or a performer. Aside from the Album of the Year Award, her studio album El Mal Querer also received Contemporary Pop Album of the Year.
In an interview, Rosalia described why she feels that she earned the two prestigious awards. According to Rosalia, she and her team worked incredibly hard on the album, and that they sat on the floor, with two computers and worked on it for two years.
"I have no prejudices or think that one music is better than another. Flamenco is my great passion, but I also love to experiment in the studio, explore with the sounds, so it is natural and organic for me to experiment. And of course, urban music is part of my references as well as classical music, other kinds of music from my country and even Jamaican music," she explains.
Rosalia just proved that she was able to produce music that embodies past and present through her medley performance of Con Altura and A Pale. She was also able to blend both the traditional sounds and the classic music together beautifully.
Rosalia also took home Best Urban Song, alongside Colombian Reggaeton artist J Balvin, for their hit Con Altura.
