In recent days, the performances of Latinos in the music and movie industry were recognized by the biggest platforms such as Apple, Spotify, Youtube, and more.

Despite the rarity of the number of Latinos and Hispanics in the entertainment industry, especially in Hollywood, it is undeniable that their performances are immeasurable. There have been lots of Latinas who are recognized in the world like Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Shakira, and more. 

This time another Latina actress is recognized because of her outstanding performance in the recent movie 'Knives Out.' Cuban-Spanish actress Ana de Armas has been nominated as the Best Performance of an Actress in a Motion Picture in the Golden Globe for her outstanding performance in the hit movie 'Knives Out.'

In a report from NBC News, her character in the movie does not only revolve as the caregiver to her former employer Harlan Thrombey who was suspected to have murdered by his family member but her character becomes also the centerpiece of discussion because it talks about the lives of every illegal immigrant in the country.

Her character in the movie became more interesting when members of the Thrombey family found out that her mother is an illegal immigrant which was found out during the one-on-one interview with the investigator. This became the only speculation as to which country in Latin America her family is from.

This is not the first nomination of Ana de Armas. In 2015, she was nominated for a Satellite Award for Best Actress. It was also the year where she began her acting career in the Spanish film and starred her first American film 'Knock, Knock.' In 2017, she joined the science fiction film 'Blade Runner 2049.' Her career as an actress eventually flourish over the years and became one of the most recognized Latina actresses in the movie industry.

2020 is a very busy year for Ana de Armas. She will appear in the next James Bond film and in the movie 'Deep Water' that is Patricia Highsmith's psychological movie about a couple who is haunted by the unsolved death of one of the wife's former lovers. She will also star in the Netflix series 'Blonde' as Marilyn Monroe.

According to a separate report, it was found out that Ana de Armas auditioned in the Knives Out as Marta Cabreras through Skype. Ana de Armas said that the reason why she passed the audition because of the character firs with her. Marta is described in the movie as 'pretty Latina caregiver.'

de Armas said: "Latinas rarely exist at the center of a film, especially not in the context that we have in this movie. So, because of the character description, my imagination immediately went to a portrayal that was not necessarily very positive or exciting with Latin culture and when I finally read the script, I realized that the description didn't fit at all because Marta is so much more than that."

Moreover, Ana de Armas is not the only Latina who was nominated in the Golden Globe this year. Jennifer Lopez was also nominated as Best Performance of an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Category for 'Hustlers.' Joaquin Phoenix and Antonio Banderas were also nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor.
