Donald Trump Takes Lead in Nationwide 2020 Election Polls Despite Impeachment Controversy
The first modern-day president of the United States of America who is facing impeachment during his first term as the country's leader, Donald Trump, had now attained the leading position against his Democratic Party opponents in the 2020 presidential election poll conducted by the USA Today/ Suffolk University Poll.
The poll was a nationwide survey; it had resulted in Donald Trump beating the Democratic Party's Joe Biden by three points, Bernie Sanders by five points, and Elizabeth Warren by eight points.
He had also taken victory in the polls against Pete Buttigieg by ten points and Michael Bloomberg by nine points.
However, it should be noted that surveys took approximately one year before the actual election is not a reliable predictor of the outcome of the upcoming elections in the country.
Additionally, the polls had revealed that despite the ongoing impeachment trials of US President Donald Trump involving his violations to the US Constitution and oath, his run for the 2020 presidential elections in the country did not receive a significant amount of negative outcomes.
The survey had included one thousand citizens of the United States of America who were registered to vote in the 2020 elections. The survey was conducted from December 10 to December 14 through voice calls. The survey was reported to have a margin of error of more or less three percent.
According to a supporter of the Republican Party and a participant to the survey from North Carolina, he believes that the current president of the United States will not reach impeachment and will win the 2020 election.
According to a 58-year-old citizen of Cincinnati who is currently in the process of attaining a business administration doctorate and a participant to the survey, he will be voting for anyone from the Democratic Party as long as it is not Trump. He had also shared his fear for the country's well-being regarding climate change and other problems that arose during the first term of the current president of the country.
Donald Trump still takes the lead in the polls against his opponents, winning 45 percent against Warren, 44 percent against Sanders and Biden, and 43 percent against Bloomberg and Buttigieg. However, Donald Trump should take note that these numbers show two types of signs the first one is the good number of supporters that he has and the second is that this may be the highest he might reach in his run for the 2020 elections.
When compared against his Democratic Opponents, variations were observed where Biden attained 41 percent, Sanders 39 percent, Warren 37 percent, Bloomberg 34 percent, and Buttigieg 33 percent.
An unnamed 3rd-party candidate attained 11 to 15 percent in the polls.
According to the Director of the Political Research Center of Suffolk named David Paleologos, it is widely known to everyone that third-party candidate has a lesser chance to win in the elections for the highest position in the government of the country but these candidates are highly expected to create a change in the outcome of the state.
