Earlier this week a Spanish news publication reported that Emily Blunt was cast in the highly anticipated "Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice" film but so far no official word has come out from Warner Bros. and none of the top entertainment sites have reported anything either.

Elmulticine, an entertainment news site written in Spanish, reported Sunday that the "Edge of Tomorrow" star was set to play a role in the upcoming comic book epic. Several websites have reported the same rumor based off of the Spanish's site's rumor but nothing has been confirmed.

According to Batman News, a news site dedicated to comic book news and essentially anything Batman related, the rumor should be treated as conjecture and argued the point that leading entertainment publications such as Deadline Hollywood, The Hollywood Reporter, The Wrap and Variety have not even reported such news.

While the rumor has not been debunked, there is still very little evidence to support the idea.

In related news, Science Fiction reported another rumor that has surfaced, which is that the film would also include the role of Batman's long-time ally in his holy war against crime in Gotham City, none other than Commissioner James Gordon.

Since the movie is still less than a month into filming, the news for the production and surprise cast is mostly conjecture. More official news is sure to be released by the studio and more than likely from the film's director Zack Snyder himself via Twitter.

Legendary actor Gary Oldman recently portrayed Commissioner Gordon in the "Dark Knight Trilogy." Ben McKenzie is currently playing the role in Fox's upcoming Gotham series, which follows around a young Jim Gordon as he climbs up the ranks within the Gotham Police Department, before Bruce Wayne ever donned the cape and cowl.

"Dawn of Justice" stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot comprising DC Comic's Holy Trinity. The film is set for a May 6, 2016 release date.
