The World's Most Expensive Weddings
Spending 8 figures on a wedding is nothing for some of the world's wealthiest couples. Let's take a look at some over the top weddings with the price tag to match.
1. Prince Charles and Princess Diana
Still the most expensive wedding on record was when Prince Charles married Diana in 1981. The bride, who wore a gown covered with 10,000 pearls and a 25-foot train, arrived at St. Paul's Cathedral in a glass coach.
There were 27 wedding cakes in addition to the main cake, but the main expense was security for the royal family.
2. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
Kim and Kanye's wedding was a whole weekend extravaganza. It began in Paris with a bachelorette party and a luncheon the next day hosted by Valentino Garavani at his home, Château de Wideville outside of Paris.
That evening, the couple held a rehearsal dinner for 600 guests at the Palace of Versailles's Hall of Mirrors. And if that wasn't enough, the guests were then flown to Florence, Italy on private chartered jets for the wedding.
3. Chelsea Clinton & Marc Mezvinsky
When Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of the 42nd President of the United States and the former Secretary of State, married investment banker Marc Mexvinsky, it was a grand affair.
The wedding was held at Astor Courts in Rhinebeck, NY. The privately-owned, historic estate overlooks the Hudson River.
The bride wore a Vera Wang gown, there was an $11,000 cake and with a bill for $600,000 for air-conditioned tents, it's no wonder the final bill was $5 million.
4. Prince William & Kate Middleton
The bride who chose to ride to the ceremony in a 1997 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI rather than a glass carriage wore a beautiful wedding gown that had a price tag of $434,000.
Often called the "wedding of the century", William and Kate were married in Westminster Abbey and had a reception, hosted by Queen Elizabeth, at Buckingham Palace.
The future King and Queen of England rode in a horse-drawn carriage along the streets of London to the palace as thousands of fans lined the route.
5. Aleksey Shapovalov and Ksenia Tsaritsina
When you start out with an $8 million engagement ring, things can only go up from there. Multi-billionaire Russian oligarch Aleksey Shapovalov married model Ksenia Tsaritsina in an extravagant ceremony in Barvikha Luxury Village hotel in Rublekva, Moscow.
The bride wore two dresses, one for the ceremony and a different one for the reception. There was an eight-tier floating cake and entertainers including Russian singer Polina Gagarina.
