Latinos are family-oriented and it is not surprising that they value their relationships with others. Therefore, when you make a friend from the Latino community, just remember, Latinos are loyal friends and they are not to be taken for granted.
Having a Latino friend is a big blessing because aside from having new friends from another ethnic group, you will also learn about their culture. With this, you will understand the beauty and diversity of our world. Here are some perks of having Latino friends according to Latina:
1. Learning the Spanish Language
Once you have a strong relationship with a Latino, you will learn more Spanish words aside from 'Gracias' and 'Bueno.' This is such an opportunity. You don't need to pay for a Spanish tutor and spend hundreds of dollars. Just ask your Latino friend to teach you more Spanish and they will probably be willing to help you.
2. Your Barrio Pass is Unlimited, Maybe
Once you have a Latino friend, you will be welcomed in most Latino barrios. Remember that part of the tradition of the Latino is greeting you by kissing you on the cheeks or sometimes with a hug. There are many Latino barrios in the U.S. and if you are with your Latino friend, they may welcome you regardless of your nationality or race. However, it's important to remember that we must not generalize any race. Although Latinos are mostly welcoming, there still may be some who would prefer that you don't come around. We should always be careful when dealing with other cultures and people.
3. You Will Not Get Hungry
You will not get hungry once you have a Latino friend. Prepare yourself once you visit a Latino home because they will surely offer you food. Latinos are known as hospitable so you don't need to worry about getting hungry once you are in a Latino home. Most of the time they will serve you with Costco-sized platters of delicious and other Latin cuisine.
4. You Can Use the Expression "No Way, Jose"
If you are in a heated conversation about pop culture and your Latino friend is way off! You can say "No way, Jose!" This phrase means absolutely not or never. Again, this is dependent on the context and the nature of your friendship. Some Latinos may find this term, or phrase, to be offensive. Not every one in the Latino community is named Jose.
5. You Will Learn How to Throw a Perfect House Party
A perfect house party is with art, music, food, drinks, cramp apartment or house, booties shaking, and more. Once you have a Latino friend, you don't need to worry about these because all those things are part of Latino culture.
6. You May Become A Better Dancer
After years of being a Latino friend, I am very sure that you knew already how to dance salsa. Try having a nightlife with a Latino and you will know why you will become a better dancer after spending years with them. Dancing is always a big thing most especially in a Latino home. You can't bid goodbye or leave their homes without dancing with them.
7. You Will Get a Better Understanding of Why Scarface is Offensive
It is still prevalent in Hollywood today to stereotype a Latino who is turned into a drug lord. This is not true to all. Maybe for some but not all Latinos are involved with this thing.

One of the best traditions of a Latino home is to introduce you to the whole family. Do not be surprised if you meet their beautiful siblings. Remember, hands-off! Just sit back and enjoy the view.
9. You Will Eat Great Food at Latin Restaurants
If you want to taste great food at Latin restaurants, you have to ask your Latino friend for the best Latino restaurant. Once you are in the place, let your Latino friend order the food in Spanish and you will never regret spending money in a Latino restaurant.
10. They Will Introduce You to More Friends
Being friendly is innate to Latinos. They will introduce you to more Latinos and once you get along with them, you will always be on their list during a house party. I am sure that you would love their house parties.
