Barack Obama Admits Enjoying Latino Music and Books by Latino Authors
Former President Barack Obama may have been out of the White House for more than four years yet he remains to be a strong and lasting pop culture figure. Aside from being frequently referenced in tv shows. movies, late-night talk shows, and other public programs, Obama has become a reliable tastemaker for some people in terms of pop culture rounds, making him one of the most influential people year after year. The former president released his annual list of favorite things in entertainment and pop culture and in his 2019 list, he included some notable Latino creatives, according to Mitu.
"From hip-hop to country to The Boss, here are my songs of the year," he captioned. "If you're looking for something to keep you company on a long drive or help you turn up a workout, I hope there's a track or two in here that does the trick."
Based on the list he tweeted, Obama listened to "Baila Baila Baila" by Ozuna featuring Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Farruko, Anuel AA.
Many users retweeted the post and shared their amazement with the former president's music preferences.

Some are curious as to who influenced Obama to listen to Ozuna. Some think it was his kids, or a friend, or Michelle since the former first lady loves to dance.
Obama also listened to Angelica Garcia's "Jícama". The singer who is of Mexican and Salvadoran descent got the break of a lifetime by getting a shoutout from the former president.
One user thanked him for introducing him this track.
Meanwhile, Garcia could not contain her happiness for her song being included on the list. She tweeted, "I am tearing up right now. My grandma has kept your picture on her piano for 5 years. Thank you for listening @BarackObama."
Obama also included Rosalía's "Con Altura." Rosalía was undeniable on the culture hit list for 2019 and there's no way Obama could avoid her. She was everywhere with her new music this year.
Obama surprised many with his choices this year with his Latin music artist picks that some couldn't help but retweet and praise him.

The former president also shared a list of his favorite movies and books.
There were no Latino movies in Obama's list but his list included American Factory, a film from his own production company, Higher Ground, that was recently shortlisted for an Oscar.
The former president also chose some incredible reads, including Mexican writer Valeria Luiselli's "Lost Children Archive."
"I hope you enjoy these as much as I did," he put on the caption.
Luiselli tweeted that she was speechless over being on Obama's list. She tweeted, "Happy, though of course bewildered, that @BarackObama read Lost Children Archive. Curious about what, in those pages, spoke to him, and wondering what thoughts left an echo." She also added that she wants Rep. Ocasio-Cortez to read her next book! "And now here's a wish for 2020: that @AOC reads Tell Me How It Ends and pushes for some major reforms!" It's all about envisioning to bring it to light!
