Jessica Simpson turned down a lead role in an iconic film because of the intimate and sex scenes.

Jessica Simpson explains why she turned down the offer to play the lead in the iconic film, The Notebook, as it would have required her to do a sex scene, Fox News reports. 

Jessica Simpson is a multi-talented star who excelled in many different entertainment industries as an actress, singer, fashion designer, author, and even reality TV star. Apparently she decided to turn down an that could have catapulted her to Hollywood mega-stardom. This is according to the quotes obtained through Entertainment Tonight.

Coincidentally, when the movie was finally realeased, it was during the time of her divorce to Nick Lachey. Simpson who is now 39 years old said: "The statement [about the split] went out while I was in the air, but nobody on the plane knew a thing, except that Jessica Simpson was loudly sobbing in first class," she also added, "then they announced that the movie we all had to watch was 'The Notebook.' 'Oh God,' I thought. The most romantic movie in the world and I was leaving Nick." 

Simpson also said that she is familiar with the 2004 film because she was in fact sent with a script. The role that was offered to her was 'Allie' which she turned down and would later be played by another star, Rachel McAdams. The singer said: "I knew exactly what the movie was about because I had read the script but turned it down because they wouldn't budge on taking out the sex scene and it would have been with Ryan Gosling, of all people."

The singer explained that she met Ryan Goslin several years ago when they had an audition for "The Mickey Mouse Club." Simpson also said that she steered away from roles that require intimate scenes not only in 'The Notebook' but also in other films throughout her relationship with NFL quarterback, Tony Romo. She alleged that it was Romo who told her not to accept movie offerings that require her to have intimate scenes.

Simpson said: "One of the few parameters he put on the relationship was a big one: He didn't want me to do any movies that required an on-camera kiss, which basically ruled out any romantic comedy, the type of movie for which I was most likely to be cast," she added, "I get it, some people can't handle another person making out with their girlfriend -- even for work -- but there were only so many plucky fish-out-of-water stories with no male romantic leads. I think it was more about how he would be perceived, than the love scene actually happening. What would people think of him for allowing that to happen?"

However, Simpson said that she understands Romo because of the fear that she might fall in love with her co-star in the movie offered to her the same as what happened way back in her movie " The Dukes of Hazzard" where she fell in love with Johnny Knoxville when she was still married to Nick Lachey.

Meanwhile, she said she never denied it but she will not do it to Tony. She said: "I didn't have a good defense for that, I'll admit... But I would never have done that to Tony."

Moreover, the representative of director Nick Cassavetes declined to give any comments and a representative from Warner Bros., which produced "The Notebook" and Tony Romo did not give any comments when asked by Fox News.
