Melissa McCarthy Starts Plus-Size Clothing Line: 6 Designers Refused to Dress Her for Oscars Because of Size
Actress Melissa McCarthy from the show "Mike and Molly" is posing a challenge to the fashion designers who declined to dress her for the Oscars awards night. McCarthy said she is ready to show the world that plus-size women like her deserve to be in fashion. During an interview with Redbook, the star of "Bridesmaids"said that she has started her own business of a clothing line that caters to plus-size women.
McCarthy, who co-starred with Sandra Bullock in the movie "The Heat", confessed that she always feels upset shopping for clothes. She also said that not even one of the six designers that she approached for the Oscars agreed to work with her. Her experience of being turned down by six designers is appalling since being a plus-size woman is not a good reason for a professional to refuse to design a dress for her. Fortunately, this turn of events only made Melissa McCarthy realize what she had to do: become an entrepreneur.
As someone who will not let anyone discourage her for being big, McCarthy is out to prove that she deserves to look good and attractive in spite of her size. She has remained an inspiration to plus-size women by not allowing her size to affect her self-esteem. The actress is featured as the cover of the Redbook magazine issue for July 2014. In the magazine she shares her thoughts about success, marriage and why she decided to become an entrepreneur of plus-size clothing for women.
McCarthy has proven herself as a comic personality and is considered one of Hollywood's funniest women. The cold-shoulder treatment McCarthy received from those designers may just add another notch to her achievements as another prominent woman in the field of fashion. Her plus-size clothing line will definitely be a hit with women everywhere.
