US, Canada, and Mexico to Restrict Northern and Southern Border Travels
The United States of America and Mexico are cooperating to create a plan to restrict the nonessential travel across the US-Mexico border, a confirmation given by the State Department on Thursday evening says an article.
Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had discussed the plans of increasing restrictions on the US-Mexico border during a call on Thursday. This was announced during a readout from Morgan Ortagus of the State Department.
Restricting Travels Across the Border
According to Ortagus, Michael Pompeo, the secretary of state and Marcelo Luis Ebrad Casaubon, the Foreign Secretary of Mexico, on formulating a plan to restrict unnecessary travel across the border of both countries due to the dangers of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The two leaders had talked about the importance of coming up with a uniform North American strategy to lessen the risk of public health. This plan is for the benefit of communities and effectively responding to the increasing challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a warning from the State Department, US citizens are advised not to travel outside the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the highest possible level of travel advisory they can give. Level 4: Do Not Travel Advisory had been given to citizens of the United States to prevent them from traveling abroad due to the worldwide effects of the COVID-19.
The State Department asked US citizens in countries where commercial departure options are still allowed to make arrangements immediately for their return to the United States. The consequence of not doing so will result in them staying abroad for an indefinite duration.
