Can We Turn to Saint Corona to Save Us from the COVID-19 Crisis?
During this difficult time amid the COVID-19, supernatural guidance is no exception to the list of things that people are going to resolve the global crisis.
Prediction of the COVID-19 Pandemic
A TV psychic named Sylvia Browne was found to have predicted the current pandemic in 2008. According to Brown, a severe pneumonia-like disease will hit and spread global nations in 2020.
Others were anticipating orthodox spiritual signs.
Many people took social media on sharing stories about Saint Corona. Based on social media posts, there is a catholic saint who exists to help up during this current global crisis.
She does not only share a similar name to the virus causing the COVID-19, but she is also the patroness of plagues and epidemics.
St. Corona
In Latin, Corona means crown. This is where the deadly novel coronavirus got its name. The deadly virus that recently acquired a pandemic classification had a spike-like protein that looked like a crown.
In Catholicism, the crown symbolizes martyrdom, especially among female saints.
In the hagiography of St. Corona, she is partnered with St. Victor, a fellow martyr. According to The Roman Martyrology (1916 Edition), Corona witnessed Victor being tortured due to his strong Christian beliefs. Also, she saw two crowns falling from the sky, they belonged to her and Victor.
She shared her vision and announced Victor as blessed. Also, she was condemned.
Corona was then tied to two trees. Her body was torn apart. On the other hand, Victor got beheaded. This does not show how she was being called against the plague and epidemics by people. This may only be a recent act of people.

Being Cited Against Plague and Epidemic
St. Corona had been mentioned against plagues and epidemics in Gloria.tv on March 11. Gloria.tv is a Catholic version of the video-sharing social media platform YouTube. It was included in an article called 'There is a Saint Corona and She is the Patron Saint of Epidemics.'
On March 14, similar information was shared in the headline of another article. It was included in the traditionalist website Society of Saint Pius and on the Catholic website, Aleteia.
On the morning of March 17, a statement was added to St. Victor and St. Corona's Wikipedia page. The statement claims that other sources say that she is the patron saint against the plague and epidemics. Later, the statement was removed. However, before it was eliminated it had already circulated many media.
How do Saints Get Their Patronages?
The possible answer to this question is similar to how Saint Corona got her title. This could be a cultural consensus that mysteriously emerges and results in the anointing of a saint. There is no ritual for organizations to declare a patron saint for their group or cause.
St. Corona's feast day is May 14.
Is St. Corona the Official Saint of Plagues and Epidemics?
There is still no official declaration of her as the exclusive patron saint for plagues and epidemics. It was the fast spread of the rumor online that allowed the saint to gain such title.
However, it will never hurt to trust in the powers of ones' strong religious belief and the possibility of a miracle.
