Netflix, the largest streaming platform in the world, cannot be accessed by most of its users around the world according to a recently published article.

Netflix has stopped working for some users around the world. It affected most of its customers in the United States and Europe. The website refused to load any time a user navigates the site. The same problem was also reported for those who are using the Netflix Application on their mobile phones.

Users or clients of Netflix started reporting the service interruption of the site around 12 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) according to Down Detector. Since then, reports about the interruption that they are unable to connect through different platforms such as mobile phones, personal computers, and Smart TV.

WHAT HAPPENED TO NETFLIX?

Netflix has agreed to reduce its traffic by 25 percent for its entire service and that includes an ultra-high, high, and standard definition.

WHY IS NETFLIX DOING THIS?

Netflix did not intend to do this. However, they have to let most of their workers to work from home. This means that most of the persons who are responsible for the operation of Netflix need to work from home to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and as well as to protect them from the deadly and infectious virus.

Meanwhile, in a recently published article, they also said that the employees of internet service providers of Netflix also need to work from home. This is one of the strategies that most of the companies are doing to help the government flatten the curve of COVID-19.

HOW DOES IT AFFECT THE VIDEO QUALITY?

Netflix's Vice President of content delivery Ken Florance said: "If you are particularly tuned into video quality you may notice a very slight decrease in quality within each resolution. But you will still get the video quality you paid for."

This simply means that there are slight changes. There will be the same quality of the video but they are removing the highest bandwidth stream.

OTHER INFORMATION THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The operation of Netflix is slightly affected because of the COVID-19 pandemic while its production has stopped temporarily to protect the actors, actresses and essential persons in the making of its movies.

Many people around the world are relying on Netflix for entertainment. However, due to the threat brought by COVID-19 and the current lockdown in different countries, they have to let their office workers to work from home. Usually, the Netflix page indicates the status of its site or if it is under maintenance but it does not include either it is online or not.

Instead, the Netflix status and page says, "We are currently experiencing a higher than normal wait time for support via phone and chat. Please try again later or check our online help center for answers to frequently asked questions. Thank you for your patience," according to a recently published article.

This means that the site is no longer running phone help, online live chat, and chat support. Meanwhile, Netflix's customer service Twitter account responded to its users. Meantime, they did not indicate if any fix is on its way.
