Highest-paid actress in the sitcom Modern Family Sofia Vergara says goodbye to the beloved Gloria Delgado-Pritchett as she and her co-stars reminisce on their taping of the finale as it aired on Wednesday.

Overwhelmed with emotions, Vergara filled her phone with photos and videos of the filming to keep the memories close. One of them was posted on Instagram the night of the finale, a few hours before it aired.

In many ways, Vergara is thankful for the ABC family. Since her rise to stardom from Modern Family as the curvy and cheery Gloria, she began making money from all directions. "I was a single mother. I am a woman, and I started in a business. I started to make money, and work and opportunities came to me."

"They are both Latina women who grew up in Colombia, like me," Vergara adds that her mother and her aunt are inspirations for the character of Gloria. "They love color, prints, and shoes. I'm like that too: a voluptuous, intense, happy woman who wants to get involved in everything with her partner to help."

Finale

After 11 years since its premiere back in 2009, ABC's sitcom Modern Family has closed the series with a two-part finale on Wednesday night.

Vergara's character, Gloria, is revealed to have found success in her work, while at the same time realizing that Jay, Manny, and Joe are starting to grow independently from her. In the synopsis of the series finale on ABC's website, it says: "in Part 2 of the series finale, the entire family discovers saying goodbye is much harder than it seems".

Last Wednesday, mere hours before the finale aired, Sofia posted a private photo of the cast on the final day of the filming.

In it were Ariel Winter, Ed O'Neil, Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Julie Bowen, Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez, Sarah Hyland, and Ty Burrell, locked in a tight embrace as they bid their farewells.

"My family on and off-screen forever," Vergara shared. "What an amazing 11 years! So thankful for this family, the crew, and all of our #modernfamily fans."

Final shoot

Sofia's teary goodbye was posted on her social media on the day they filmed the finale. "I will never forget this set, these people, there were only good times. Thank you, Modern Family."

Vergara mentions that the hardest thing about saying goodbye to Modern Family is not working with her onscreen family, Ed O'Neill, and the kids, anymore, adding that she will simply miss them too much.

After taping the finale, the entire cast sang along to "Time of Your Life" by Green Day. Vergara uploaded the video on her Instagram account.

"It's going to be really hard. It has been more than I ever dreamed of or deserved. Gracias my Modern Family #11years."

As for her next step, Vergara is set to make a comeback as a judge on this season's America's Got talent. She thought it was the perfect opportunity to do something different after ten years of a TV show as "fantastic" as Modern Family.

"I didn't think I was going to get something like that, but I think it's better to mix it up for a while." She adds, "This is a new and exciting next chapter for me, and I'm extremely proud to be the first Latin judge on the show. I can't wait to watch all the talent and have fun with all you guys!"
