Brazil Reports All-Time High 730 Coronavirus Deaths in 24 Hours
The total population of Brazil is approximately 210 million. However, the deaths caused by SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, is continuously changing that number with a total of 10,627 deaths, says a recent article.
New COVID-19 Record in Brazil
On Saturday, the country reported a one-day death toll record of 730 deaths.
As per the Brazilian Report, there are already a total of 162, 699 positive coronavirus cases in the country. It was shown on the site that there are a total of 11,123 people who lost their battle with the illness while 64, 957 people declared victory against the deadly disease.
It was reported in a COVID-19 tracking website that based on the total cases of the coronavirus; there is a 6.8 percent fatality rate with a 39.9 percent chance of recovery.
The First COVID-19 Case in Brazil
On March 17, 2020, Brazil reported its first COVID-19 death. According to an article, the first COVID-19 patient in Brazil to die from the deadly illness was a man who was 62 years old. Also, it was reported that the man had pre-existing health conditions when he contracted the deadly disease.
Based on the article, it was revealed that the man had had high blood pressure and diabetes before got infected with the coronavirus.
Transforming the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro to a Hospital
Due to the escalating number of coronavirus cases in the country, they have decided to transform Rio de Janeiro's Maracana Stadium into a hospital. It was reported that the hospital was created to have a 400-total-bed-capacity. Currently, it has 170 beds placed. 50 out of the 170 hospital beds are allotted for intensive care.
In the middle of May, the remaining beds needed for the hospital to reach full capacity will be given to the makeshift hospital.

World Statistics on the Novel Coronavirus
According to a coronavirus case tracking website, the world has recorded a total of 4,178,154 people contracting the SARS-CoV-2 with 1,490,444 of the patients winning the battle with the deadly infectious disease. Additionally, 283,734 of the total COVID-19 patients were not able to overcome the disease and passed away.
Spreading the Disease
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, also known as CDC, it is a new disease that the world had recently discovered. However, it is believed that it can be transmitted from one person to another through respiratory droplets.
Additionally, CDC reveals that some people show symptoms of infectious and deadly illness while some are asymptomatic.
An asymptomatic COVID-19 patient is someone who contracted the coronavirus but did not show symptoms of any illness, according to WHO. This means that those who do not show signs of the disease tend to spread it to others. Thus, contributing to the additional COVID-19 infections.
