Understanding California’s Four Phases of Reopening Its Economy And Which Phase It Is Currently
According to an article, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that the stay-at-home orders in the entire state of California to take effect on March 19. This order had led to almost everyone in the entire state to stay indoors and following social distancing guidelines whenever they go outside to do essential activities such as grocery shopping and buying medicines.
Also, the statewide stay-at-home orders had led to many businesses in the state that are classified as non-essential to postpone operations until the local government gives them the go-signal to reopen. This had resulted in countless people in the state's workforce losing their jobs and apply for unemployment benefits.
Fast Forward to two months, California is continuing its battle with the coronavirus as many scientists in different parts of the world continue to find a cure and vaccine to the deadly illness.
Reopening California
According to an article, the state's government had released guidelines on May 12 about the reopening of some counties in the state. This is made after the state government had announced that it is now on Phase two of California's reopening of its economy.

Phases of Reopening the Economy
Governor Gavin Newsom had been slowly easing the restrictions on the entire state. However, changes in restrictions across California had made some residents confused. To understand better the phases that Governor Newsom plans to implement to restart the economy of California. Here is a brief description of the different phases of restarting the economy of California:
For Phase 1, based on an article, the government and private sectors in the state are collaborating to adjust their environments and work areas to meet the safety requirement for preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus. It means that California is still in the planning stage during this phase.
According to an article, during this phase people who are not conduction essential activities are ordered to stay inside their homes. It means that those who are working for essential businesses and conducting essential activities will be permitted to go outside.
The state had passed this phase.
For Phase 2, an article explains that low-risk businesses and some public locations will be allowed to reopen. However, these businesses are required to adjust their operations and facilities to enforce social distancing among its employees and customers. Based on an article, low-risk businesses include schools, businesses offering childcare, and non-essential manufacturing businesses.
The state is currently under this phase.
For Phase 3, an article states that higher-risk businesses will be allowed to reopen in the state during this phase. However, they will be required to adjust their operations and facilities to help their staff and customers to obey social distancing guidelines. During this phase, movie theatres, gyms, beauty salons, and churches will be allowed to reopen, according to an article.
For Phase 4, the stay-at-home order in the state will be terminated, according to an article. The rest of the businesses in the state will be allowed to reopen during this phase.
