Gabrielle Union, one of the judges of 'America's Got Talent, filed a complaint against NBC and the show due to alleged racial discrimination, according to a recently published article.

Racial Discrimination Within the Show

Gabrielle Union decided to depart from the 'America's Got Talent' because she objected to an on-set environment that allows racism and described it as a generally toxic working culture as Union alleged. But it is the racism inside the show that led her to file a case.

Union's complaint was filed at the Department of Fair Employment and Housing. The complaint highlighted the harassment and discrimination she experienced in the show because of her race and she also said that she experienced retaliation following his complaint.

The said complaint stipulated that Union was singled out because of her color and her physical appearance. NBC discriminated her also because of her hair that does not fit to the white audience that the NBC is trying to convey.

Moreover, Union also alleged that the network executive and a show producer also alleged that Union's manager was informed that her hair was too wild and it needed to be toned down to fit her hairstyle to the white audience.

In an official statement released by NBC through a news outlet, they said that they are taking the issues and concerns of Union extremely serious about the racial discrimination within the show and they have interviewed more than 30 persons about it through an external investigator.

Results of the Investigation

According to the result of the investigation, it was found out that no one from the show made a derogatory remark against Union just because of her race and color. It was also added in the report that no one of the contestants in the AGT was judged based on color and race.

The result of the investigation debunks the racial discrimination complaint of Union. However, it was made clear that the decision of Union to raise her concern will not affect her contract on the show.

Meanwhile, for Bryan Freedman, Union's lawyer, he said that the racial complaint od Union clearly manifests that NBC's recent statement of their outrage over the racism in the country and their support for "Black Lives Matter" is clearly in contrast of what they are showing to Union.

Union's Husband's Dwayne Wade Gave a Comment

On Thursday, Union's husband Dwayne Wade made a comment and posted it on his social media account. He said that the show and network have deemed her a liar after months of trying to inform them of the issues in the workplace and also make sure other employees of color that comes after her won't have the same experiences. He also asserted that instead of looking through the lens of someone who has been an advocate for the black and brown community, for women and for rape victims in the country.

Racism exists for as long as humans judge another human based on the color of his or her skin. This negative rhetoric thinking should stop because after all there is only one race and that is humanity.
