One Direction has enlisted a bunch of acclaimed artists from various music backgrounds to craft their upcoming fourth studio album.

Fellow English pop/rock band McFly is undoubtedly One Direction's frequent collaborator, as the members have previously teamed up on every 1D album. Lead vocalist Tom Fletcher wrote "I Want" off their debut album "Up All Night." His bandmates Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter then joined him to work on "I Would" off the sophomore album "Take Me Home," as well as "Don't Forget Where You Belong" off the most recent album "Midnight Memories."

Niall Horan took to his Twitter account in March to confirm that he was collaborating with the trio once again: "Just wrote another cool song with Danny, Dougie and Tom! What a laugh that was! #leftmytomtomwiththedriver." Jones soon added: "Another great writing sesh with @tommcfly @dougiemcfly @NiallOfficial."

Grammy Award-winning singer John Legend is also expected to appear on One Direction's new record, as he talked about working with Harry Styles in March. "We got together for a few hours and wrote what I think is really lovely song," he said. "I'd love to write with him again as he is a great guy and very talented."

Styles ended up in a studio with Irish rock band Kodaline, while he was hanging out in L.A. in March. Lead guitarist Mark Prendergast described the track they wrote together. "It was an unrequited love song but we're not sure what we're doing with it yet, but it's there," he said before adding that Harry Styles is "a really good lad, very funny and a very good writer and singer."

One Direction's new project is to feature another English band -- the "Midnight Memories" hitmakers chose to team up with The 1975 after they covered 1D's "What Makes You Beautiful" on BBC Radio 1's "Live Lounge" last year. The lead singer Matt Healy discussed their collaboration. "I went into the studio with them and we started to work on one track," he said. "They were asked to list who they wanted to work with on the next album, and we were one of the people they chose."

Zayn Malik recorded a song with Naughty Boy and his long-term collaborator Emeli Sandé. "Sick studio vibes with @emelisande & @zaynmalik - forget what you think you know. #doitanyway," Naughty Boy tweeted. The "La La La" producer also confirmed working on One Direction's latest album in an interview with Capital FM last month: "Zayn's actually quite a good rapper, we've been in the studio doing some One Direction stuff, and he can spit bars! Of course he can! Big up Zayn and his bars."

Writing partners Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson previously flew to the U.S. to work with Good Charlotte. "Good day today w/ @Louis_Tomlinson and @Real_Liam_Payne lotta laughs," Benji Madden tweeted at the time. "#1D #Directioners their new album is crazy. homies!! #Noice."

Lastly, there have been speculations that Pharrell may collaborate with the boyband, as Niall Horan said on Capital FM: "We've been writing the new album at the minute, and hopefully we can get Pharrell, if Liam is willing. And I will do that trip with you, to go to America to meet Mr. Pharrell Williams, we'll go and write a tune!"

One Direction's forthcoming album is expected to "blow your minds," as Payne tweeted earlier this year -- will it be another worldwide hit?
