Jennifer Lawrence Celebrity & Movies: Actress to Star in Third David O. Russell Film
Academy award winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is set to star in her third David O. Russell film.
In addition to being Hollywood's "It Girl," it seems that Jennifer Lawrence is also Russell's "It" girl in regards to his movies.
According to the LA times, Lawrence and Russell will collaborate on a new film called "Joy," scheduled for release on Dec. 25, 2015. With its calculated holiday release, the film will also try to be in the running for next year's Oscars.
No surprise there.
After all, Lawrence's last Russell films were "Silver Linings Playbook," which earned her an Oscar, and "American Hustle," which earned her an Oscar nomination. Russell was also nominated for an Oscar in the Best Director category for both of those films.
It is safe to say that this film might land Lawrence and Russell at the Oscars yet again.
But we'll just have to wait and see.
Lawrence is set to play the role of Joy Mangano, the Long Island single-mom-turned-entrepreneur and shopping-network star who built an empire on a plastic mop that could be wrung out without getting one's hands dirty.
Russell will direct the movie while "Bridesmades" co-writer Annie Mumolo will be behind the film's script.
Last month, Lawrence recalled Russell's pitch for the movie on "Live! with Kelly and Michael" E! News reports.
"He recently texted me at, I think, 4 in the morning, and was like, 'I think I want to make a movie about the woman who invented the [Miracle] Mop. You want to do it?' And I was like, yeah," Lawrence said on the show.
She later joked about Russell's choices in screenplays.
"I could just imagine David looking at somebody mopping and being like, 'Yeah, that's my next screenplay.'"
