Doja Cat, Who Previously Mocked the Virus, Tests Positive for COVID-19

Doja Cat is one perfect example that the novel coronavirus is not a big joke.

After previously downplaying the virus, Doja Cat tested positive for COVID-19. The singer revealed the news in a new interview on Friday. Doja told Capital XTRA that she experienced some symptoms that lasted for a few days. The singer-songwriter blamed the food delivery app Postmates for the coronavirus. However, she feels better now, as per Variety.

"I got COVID. Honestly, I don't know how this happens, but I guess I ordered something off of Postmates, and I don't know how I got it, but I got it," Doja said. "I'm okay now. It was a four-day symptom freakout, but I'm fine now."

On Instagram Live, Doja Cat downplayed the severity of COVID-19 in March by comparing it to the flu and refusing to take proper precautions.

Doja Cat has been involved in plenty of controversies lately as per Variety. In May, videos spread of her participating in a popular white supremacist chat room and using racial slurs. Back in 2018, the star was also criticized for using homophobic language on Twitter, but then she defended her decision to do so.

According to People, Doja made headlines again after critics called her out for the racist slur in the title of a resurfaced song in 2015. Doja Cat wrote on her Instagram, saying that she's addressing the post to what has been happening on Twitter. The singer explained that she had used public chat rooms to socialize ever since she was young. Doja admitted that she shouldn't be in some of these chat rooms, but she never was involved in any racist conversations. Doja apologized to everyone she offended.

The 24-year-old star fought back against the allegations that her friends whom she hung out with on TinyChat are sexist or racist. Doja Cat said that she just realized the things, verbal harassment, and physical harassment that she could go through knowing that she is with the white supremacist crowd. Doja also denied that her friends are racist and supremacists.

According to Complex, Dorje has apologized profusely to any offense she caused, particularly for her past racist remarks. However, Doja took a stand against the accusations that she hung out with racist on the internet.

Doja Cat has become a hit since 2019 and continues to be from her choice of outfits to her super "Hot Pink hair,' and of course, her music style' according to Indigo Music.
