President Donald J. Trump defends and claims that the teen gunman involved in shooting two protesters acted in self-defense.

Ahead of Trump's trip to Wisconsin, the President claims that Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, accused last week of fatally shooting two Kenosha protesters and injuring another was just self-defense. The President also tore into the Democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden, and other Democrats. Trump accused them of stoking "left-wing political violence," as per Fox News.

Trump Believes that Teen Gunman Who Killed Kenosha Protesters Only Acts in Self-Defense
President Trump Departs The White House For Midwest Trip WASHINGTON, DC - AUGUST 17: U.S. President Donald Trump talks to reporters as he leaves the White House for a trip to Minnesota and Wisconsin August 17, 2020 in Washington, DC. Trump said he may travel to Iowa to survey damage from last week's powerful storms and that a memorial service will be held at the White House for the president's younger brother, Robert Trump, who died last week. Trump supported the claim that Rittenhouse was acting in self-defense during a White House press briefing. Trump said that the teen gunman tripped, and he possibly would have been killed if he didn't use his weapon. "He was in huge trouble," President Trump said. "He probably would have been killed."

As the White House media briefing started today, Trump reiterated the "law and order" message the President has been pushing over the past fortnight. "I want to provide an update on left-wing political violence that we're seeing in Democrat-run cities," Trump said.

The President argued that violence in American cities is the fruit of weak leadership of the Democratic Party politicians. As per Trump, violence will worsen if his election opponent, Joe Biden, defeats him. Last week on President Trump's speech to the Republican National Convention, he warned that no one would be safe in "Biden's America."

The President also sought to tie Biden and his party to the unrest across the country amid protests regarding racial injustice and police brutality, saying that the turmoil is happening in the "Democrat-run cities."

On the other hand, Biden released a statement after the press conference that highlights Trump's comments on Rittenhouse" "Tonight, the President declined to rebuke violence. Trump wouldn't even repudiate one of his supporters charged with murder because he attacks others. He is too weak, too scared of the hatred he has stirred to put an end to it."

According to NZHerald, Kyle Rittenhouse showed up at a protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, with a semi-automatic rifle. On the video footage, Rittenhouse was caught being chased by demonstrators, and he proceeded to open fire on them.

The teen Illinois resident has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide, attempted first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide, and two counts of first- degree reckless engagement. Rittenhouse intends to argue that what he did was self-defense.

Prosecutors identify Rittenhouse in shooting his first victim, Joseph Rosenbaum, in a used car lot after Rosenbaum threw a plastic bag at Rittenhouse. The victim allegedly tried to get the weapon of Rittenhouse from him.

On the other hand, during violent confrontations between a caravan of pro-Trump demonstrators and Black Lives Matter protesters, one supporter of Trump was shot dead in Portland, Oregon over the weekend.
