Trump Wants To Send Out $1,200 Stimulus Checks Immediately
Pres. Donald Trump suggested to send out immediately the $1,200 stimulus checks using the unspent $300 billion under the CARES Act.
Pres. Donald Trump has now become more aggressive in pushing for another stimulus bill and sending $1,200 direct stimulus checks. Even though it is not yet clear if either the new stimulus bill includes the stimulus check or not, the Pres. will make sure that there be another stimulus checks in another way.
According to a published report in a news outlet, the unspent $300 billion under the CARES Act is more than enough to pay more than 160 million Americans who qualified in the first round of stimulus payments, including the $500 dependent stimulus payment
This means that if Congress only releases the $300 billion, the $1,200 direct stimulus and another $500 dependent stimulus payment are too possible to be sent out immediately. This is while waiting for the other relief aids under the new stimulus bill.
Pres. Trump said at the White House on Friday that the money is available, and he is willing to use it for stimulus checks. He said, "I would be willing to release it, subject to Congress, and use that as stimulus money, and it would go right to the American people."
The unspent $300 billion is supposed to be for the small businesses, but Trump said that it was not used because the economy is going well. This just shows how the U.S. economy is working even amid the global pandemic.
Trump added, "All Congress has to do is say, 'Use it.' If they say, 'Use it' - I'd like to use it without their permission, but I guess I'm not allowed to do that. I did ask that question. So Congress has just to say, 'Use it.', and $300 billion gets immediately put into our system, and will really help the American people. There's nothing else to do - just a very quick statement."
It is undeniable that both Republicans and Democrats agree on another round of $1,200 stimulus checks. However, the top negotiators have disagreements on the total package. Democrats are pushing for $2.5 trillion, but when asked how it will be used, Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi cannot give the details.
Meanwhile, the Republican lawmakers' last offer that they will discuss on Sept.8 is $1.3 trillion. The reason may be why they did not include the stimulus check in the new bill because the administration wants to use the unspent $300 billion, which is more than enough.
It can also be remembered that Treasury Secretary appeared on Sunday on a news outlet and gave a positive message about the new stimulus bill. Next week, Congress will also go back to the Capitol to discuss whatever needs to be discussed.
However, Pres. Trump assures that whatever will happen, he will make sure that there will be enough relief aids for millions of Americans until this year ends. In a recently published article in Latin Post, it was reported that he might divert some funds like what he did with FEMA.
