Chris Watts' Parents Still 'Love and Support' Him Despite Murdering Their Grandchildren

Chris Watts' parents said they still love their son even after he murdered his pregnant wife and two young daughters.

According to KNews, Chris' parents continued to love their son unconditionally despite the horrific crime he committed.

The heartbreaking real-life story of Chris' chilling murders of his wife Shanann Watts, and their daughters, 4-year-old Bella and 3-year-old Celeste, is the newest true-crime documentary on Netflix. Titled "American Murder: The Family Next Door," it has hit the streaming giant's number 1 spot.

Chris' parents, Ronnie and Cindy Watts, told The Sun after watching the documentary that they always grieved for their grandchildren, but they still support and love their son.

Ronnie, 63, and Cindy, 64, denied recent reports that their 35-year-old son was shocked and upset that Netflix made him a more infamous murderer. They said their son remains unaware of the documentary's contents.

The couple was saddened to see their grandchildren's videos in the film as they assumed that those were private. However, during the last two sad years of their lives, their family's privacy has already gone right out the window.

Taking a closer look at the case, Netflix has pieced together raw, firsthand footage for the "American Murder: The Family Next," which was released last Sept. 30.

Chris murdered his pregnant wife and their two daughters in August 2018. He pleaded guilty to the crimes in November of the same year and is currently serving a total of five life sentences in prison.

During their exclusive interview with The Sun, Cindy said they did not tell Chris about the documentary, so he did not know anything about it.

"People come up with all these narratives. None of it is true. I'm living it, and I have been living it every single day for two years. It's nothing Chris hasn't lived through, he saw it, they didn't even show all the conversations that Christopher had with his dad, they didn't show anything, there was so much left out," Cindy noted.

The couple said they regularly speak to their son. They claimed that Chris was "heartbroken" and has turned to religion. They added that their son is also writing a journal as he spends his days inside the prison.

Ronnie said Chris is taking it one day at a time, just like them.

"We still love our son no matter what and we miss our grandbabies. We're trying to move forward, but it's a very hard task," he added.

Before committing the hideous crime, Chris was in a relationship with Nichol Kessinger, a co-worker in Anadarko Petroleum Company in Colorado.

The two started their extra-marital affair shortly before Chris' family were found dead. Nichol said Chris had regularly lied to her about the state of his family.

Chris initially said that he had strangled Shanann in a "fit of rage" after watching her strangled their two daughters following their separation talk. But Chris eventually changed his story.

He confessed to killing his wife and daughters and pleaded guilty to five counts of first-degree murder, three counts of tampering with a deceased human body, and one count of unlawful termination of a pregnancy.

According to Chris, he took Shanann and their kids' bodies to an oil site after killing them and buried them. Shannan's family did not seek the death penalty in the case. Chris is serving out his sentence at Dodge Correctional Institution in Wisconsin.

Chris indicated in a letter that he thought about killing his wife. According to Chris, he gave Shannan painkiller Oxycodone weeks before committing the crime, hoping to induce a miscarriage. He said he thought it would be easier to be with Nichol if Shanann was not pregnant.
