House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is facing backlash not only from people waiting for a new stimulus package, but also from some Democrats after she rejected the recent $1.8 trillion COVID-19 relief offer from the White House.

The Trump administration has always been pushing for a new round of stimulus package since the first coronavirus relief aid expired.

There have been a series of negotiations and a couple of offers that the White House made to strike a deal with the top negotiators of the Democratic Party.

Recently, the White House offered a $1.8 trillion stimulus package that includes direct stimulus checks, Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans for businesses, funding for airline industries, increased budget for local and state funding, and more. Trump's top negotiators attempted to reach a stimulus deal to help millions of Americans across the country but to no avail.

After Pelosi rejected the latest stimulus offer, some members of the Democratic Party in both chambers expressed their disappointments and frustrations.

It can be remembered that over 100 Democratic representatives wrote a letter to Pelosi to act on another stimulus bill last month. The Problem Solvers Caucus, a bipartisan group, also drafted and proposed their own version of a $1.5 billion stimulus package.

Recently, former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang posted on his Twitter account and wrote, "Nancy Pelosi take this deal! Put politics aside people are hurting." For Yang, it seems that Pelosi is playing politics and does not have a plan to help Americans.

Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna also expressed his disappointment over the rejection of a new stimulus package.

He tweeted: "People in need can't wait until February. 1.8 trillion is significant & more than twice Obama stimulus. It will allow Biden to start with infrastructure. Obama won in 08 by doing the right thing on TARP instead of what was expedient. Make a deal & put the ball in McConnell court."

Dan Pfeiffer, the co-host of the left-leaning podcast, also said that while there are potential risks, "Democrats should aggressively pursue a COVID Relief deal with Trump." He also asserted that giving stimulus package is the right thing to do rather than playing politics.

Meanwhile, Pelosi released a statement through a weekly letter to his Democratic colleagues and said the $1.8 trillion proposal lacked a "strategic plan to crush the virus" and give President Donald Trump too much power to determine how the funds will be spent.

However, the proposal has already targeted all the relief measures that millions of Americans need amid the pandemic. In fact, the dependent payment for qualified individuals was increased from $500 to $1,000. If it's only approved, millions will benefit from the financial aid.

The White House continues to ask Congress to pass a new relief bill. U.S. Treasury Steven Mnuchin and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows urged Congress to pass a relief bill to use the $130 billion unspent budget under the CARES Act to help millions of people.

The Trump administration wants a new relief bill to be signed into law before the election. But Pelosi keeps rejecting the proposals despite the call from her colleagues.
