Some Republicans are now expressing their support in a bigger stimulus package that Pres. Donald Trump offered to the camp of Nancy Pelosi.

Pres. Donald Trump and his administration offered a $1.8 trillion stimulus package. He also said that he is willing to go in a bigger amount than what Republicans and Democrats can offer. Pres. Trump wants to make sure that millions of Americans will receive the financial aids they need amid the global pandemic.

Trump's recent $1.8 trillion stimulus proposal was both embraced and criticized. There are some who criticized a bigger package because it will add up to the country's $3.1 trillion deficit. However, the Federal Reserve Officers and other economists firmly believed that another round of stimulus will help the country's economy.

Republican Senator Mitch McConnell has already expressed his doubts that Republican senators might not approve a bigger stimulus. Despite this, Pres. Trump posted on his Twitter account that he will lobby the bigger stimulus package to his party.

Trump's plan seems to be effective because Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina has already expressed his support in a bigger stimulus package as long as it is smart. Graham asserted that he supports Pres. Trump and his administration's plan to provide a bigger aide.

On Tuesday, Pres. Trump posted again and reiterated his call for stimulus. He wrote "STIMULUS! Go big or go home!!!" The President wants to sign any stimulus bill that includes direct stimulus checks before the election. Though he was already told that stimulus will not help his re-election bid.

His priority is not just his position but to make sure to help those who are heavily impacted by the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the expression of Sen. Graham's support for a bigger stimulus is a sign that there could still be other Republican Senators who are more likely to support the larger stimulus. If this happens, millions of Americans will receive the money they need before the election.

However, one of the problems that Sen. Graham criticized in the Democrat's proposed $2.2 trillion stimulus are the provisions that do not address the global pandemic. He specifically mentioned "ballot harvesting" which is not about pandemic but political in nature.

In a published article in Newsweek, Sen. Graham said that there are some Republicans who do not want to send another stimulus but he also believes that many of them want to have a bigger relief aid. But he also asserted that they will support the direct stimulus checks among others but not the non-COVID-19 related provisions of the Democrats.

Meanwhile, there is also a sign that Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is more likely to support the new bill after he revealed that they are set to vote for another skinny bill next week.

"These are just some of the urgent needs that Washington should meet immediately while debates continue over the rest. This is half a trillion dollars of good that Congress can do right now," McConnel said.

He expressed that he is open to a bigger stimulus but while waiting for the negotiations to be sealed, he wanted to have the skinny bill be approved and signed into law.
