According to Variety, Hassell's manager told them that the NBC TV show "Surface" actor died at 30. On Sunday, Hassell was shot in an apparent carjacking. But the incident is still under investigation, as per Eddie Hassell's representative. It is still unclear where in Texas, the incident took place.

On July 16, 1990, Eddie Hasselle was born in Corsicana, Texas. He had several small roles in the 2000s and 2010s TV shows and movies. Most notably, he played the role of Clay in the film "The Kids Are All Right," wherein he worked with Mark Ruffalo and Julianne Moore.

At the 2011 Oscars, "The Kids Are All Right" earned a best picture nod. Hassell is also known for his role on NBC's sci-fi series "Surface" for a number of episodes as Phil Nance, where he acted along with Lake Bell and Leighton Meester.

As Phil Nance, Hassell was the best friend of teenager Carter Jenkin, who found an egg off the coast of the Carolinas. The egg hatched into an aquatic lizard with mysterious powers. He also starred in Lifetime's Devious Maids as Eddie Suarez for a period along with cameos on shows such as Southland and Bones and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

In 2013, Hassell became an actor with Ashton Kutcher in the Steve Jobs biopic Jobs. He played the role of Chris Espinosa, a 16-year-old teenager and one of Apple's first employees.

During the early 2000s, Hassell broke into the entertainment industry and continued to rack up movie and TV gigs over the years, as per Daily Mail. His most recent credits came in 2017.

Hassell also said that he was an avid skateboarder and surfer. In a 2013 interview with Elle, Eddie Hassell said, 'Skateboarding's been a huge part of my life; it also got me cast in commercials. I was into rodeos and horse backriding in Texas. When I moved to L.A., I got into skating. I did all my stunts. I'm into anything with a board: wakeboarding, surfing."

Besides his acting career and Hollywood projects, Hassell was a published author. He released his book "Someone Should Tell You: Startling Revelations and Truths to Help You Understand and Improve Your Life" in 2019.
