Top Republican and Democratic stimulus negotiators are speeding up to come up with an agreement that could deliver another relief package before the year ends. The amount offered has already received support from both parties.

U.S. Senate Opens For Business As Coronavirus Relief Package Talks Continue.

Millions of Americans could joyfully celebrate the upcoming holiday season as the Democratic and Republican lawmakers signaled and supported a newly proposed stimulus package. 

A $908 billion bipartisan COVID-19 stimulus plan was released on Tuesday.

New Stimulus Proposal Gains Support from Both Parties 

The Senate and Congress had been in disagreements in the past months over the next stimulus package amount. However, both chambers seem to agree on coming up with a deal before the year ends, according to a published article in The Wall Street Journal. 

In a joint statement as per NBC News, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, both Democrats, said: "In the spirit of compromise, we believe the bipartisan framework introduced by Senators yesterday should be used as the basis for immediate bipartisan, bicameral negotiations."

They added: "Of course, we and others will offer improvements, but the need to act is immediate and we believe that with good-faith negotiations we could come to an agreement."

The amount is also more likely to receive support from the Republican lawmakers since it is almost near the amount they offered under the skinny bill. 

Meanwhile, Republican Senate Majority Whip John Thune said the Democrats' call to center talks on the bipartisan proposal was a move in the right direction.

He said: "They've gotten reasonable, and I think that could help us get to a solution."

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, on the other hand, did not comment on the Democratic leaders' statement, but earlier that day, he released a statement.

He said they were showing a new willingness to engage in good faith - a sign of progress on negotiations for the next round of stimulus package.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin Released a Statement

Despite the strong bipartisan support for a new stimulus package, the GOP leaders have yet to act on the Democrats' renewed negotiations.

However, the Treasury Secretary released a statement on Wednesday. Steven Mnuchin said the White House-backed a new GOP offer released Tuesday.

The proposal is similar to the Senate Republicans' previous $519 billion skinny bill that includes more funding for small businesses, legal protections for entities operating during the pandemic, and a one-month extension of expanded unemployment-insurance programs. 

Mnuchin also said: "The president will sign the McConnell proposal that he put forward yesterday." He added that the White House was reviewing the new bipartisan plan.

Even though President Donald Trump has yet to weigh in on the discussions, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said on Wednesday that COVID-19 aid is the topmost priority. 

In a previous Latin Post report, McConnell has put up pressure on Pelosi and said that there is no reason for a new stimulus package to not pass before the new year. If another stimulus bill will be approved, the earliest will be next week.
