Selena Quintanilla's Husband Chris Pérez Gives His Take on New Netflix's Biopic
Chris Pérez, the husband of late Selena Quintanilla, took to Instagram to share his thoughts on Netflix's "Selena: The Series."
According to E! News, Chris Pérez shared a few memories while weighing in on the new limited series released on Netflix Friday.
Chris doesn't need a show to honor his wife's legacy as he experienced her greatness firsthand, as per E! News. But on Thursday, Chris wrote on Instagram: "Alright so, here is my take on this, I loved her music even before I joined the band."
He said he was intrigued by the fact that Selena's brother, A.B. Quintanilla, had his name as a producer. He further noted that keyboard player Ricky Vela was his hero as far as musicianship goes.
Chris added that Selena's dad, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., "ran some amazing sound when I went to see them at an event in San Antonio."
The 51-year-old guitarist also reminisced about learning "so much" by taking on the parts of guitar player Roger Garcia, one of the early members of Selena y Los Dinos, and doing his best to "stretch it even further."

Chris ended his post by saying that he "will forever respect the band and the people involved in it" and hoped that viewers would enjoy the series.
"Selena: The Series" follows the legendary Tejano singer's rise to fame. Jesse Posey portrays Chris in the show.
In an April Instagram post, Chris Pérez revealed that he was not involved in the show's making. The musician also told Austin360 in an interview that he was not sure if he would watch the series.
Chris previously tried to produce a series about his relationship with Selena. However, Selena's father filed a lawsuit in 2016 against him.
Abraham claimed that Chris didn't have the right to produce a television series based on a legal agreement regarding Selena's estate. The lawsuit was eventually dismissed in 2019.
"Selena: The Series" features Christian Serratos as Selena Quintanilla. Abraham and Selena's sister Suzette produced the series.
Serratos told The BingE! Club's Erin Lim that playing the role of an icon "feels like a dream."
Latin Post earlier reported that the 1997 producer of the film "Selena," Moctesuma Esparza, sued Netflix and the singer's father and sister for $1 million regarding their rights to Selena's life story.
Esparza claimed that he owns the rights to Selena's life story for future projects, as per Fox News. The producer also said that Abraham signed an agreement, giving Esparza the singer's life story's rights.
Selena's family and the streaming giant were accused of neglect of the rights that Esparza obtained. The producer noted that he and the Quintanilla family had discussed bringing the story to a television program.

In 1995, the filmmaker told the Los Angeles Times that he and Selena's family came to an "unusual formal agreement" about the film.
Esparza said Quintanilla's family was offered final approval on the script. However, the lawsuit stated that in 1998, life rights were secured when a TV production discussion took place.
