Michigan Man Fatally Stabbed by Ex-Girlfriend When He and 3 Others Break Into Her House

Valentine's Day is all about receiving and giving love, but that is not the case for a Michigan man as he tries to break and enter into his ex-girlfriend's house, leading to his demise. New York Post notes that the man identified as Jonathan Skaggs, 25 years of age, breaks into the house with three others involved in the crime and was stabbed, making him drop dead.

Crime Online notes that the man did the crime early Sunday morning and was pronounced dead by the Burton Police at the scene. The woman was living with her new boyfriend when the attack happened.

Suspects incited violence in the residence

According to ABC 12, investigators believe that Skaggs and his three other accomplices drove to his ex-girlfriend's house in Carmen Street. They added that when they reached the residence, they broke in and started attacking people.

The three other accomplices are also armed with knives. The group also attacked and stabbed the woman's new boyfriend. the people in the house defended themselves from the attack, which resulted in multiple stab wounds in Skagg's chest.

In an interview with WNEM, Burton Police Chief Bryan Ross shares his grief, saying that the incident was a devastating thing to happen since Skaggs had one thing in his mind, he did what he has to do and paid the price for it. Ross furthers that Skaggs and her ex-girlfriend had a child who is present in the vicinity of the incident when the attack happened.

The assailants tried to flee. However, Skaggs collapsed, and the three accomplices were able to get away in a vehicle, but the police could track them down and take them into custody. Among the three suspects lodged in Genesee County jail, two are also treated for stab wounds.

Because authorities believe that jealousy played a role in the crime, Ross shares in an interview that the violent crimes have gone up a bit because of the pandemic, although the actual crime stats are going down.

Violence amid pandemic

Chief Ross has noticed that violence has gone up amid the pandemic. According to UN Women, Since the outbreak of COVID-19, data shows that all types of violence against women and girls, specifically domestic violence, have intensified.

Meanwhile, HealthyChildren.org shares that stress and conflict happen in relationships, sometimes including emotional, physical, sexual, and financial abuse or even controlling behavior. This only means that pandemic has something to do with the emotional stress people are feeling.

With the death of the Michigan Man due to his ex-girlfriend defending herself from their attacks and the three other suspects taken into custody, the place may enjoy peace once again through the authorities' help.
