Striker Luis Suarez Nets 500th Career Goal, Gives Back to Supporters
For some fans of the Spanish club Atlético Madrid, the latest goal of the Uruguayan professional footballer, Luis Suárez, is his 19th goal of the season and also the reason behind the club's 1-0 win against Alavés; but for his solid fans, Suárez made history as it marked his 500th goal in his career.
The 500th career goal of Suárez placed him on the table of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Robert Lewandowski as the only active players who passed the 500 goal mark. The Uruguayan footballer cannot believe what he has achieved in his more than a decade of professional career.
Suárez thanked his English, Dutch, and Spanish supporters in a letter on social media for backing him up. He also shared that he wants to net as many goals as possible while suiting up for Atlético Madrid.

According to Remezcla, the Uruguayan professional footballer became emotional in his post as he revealed that even his fans do not know every single one of them, played their part in every goal that he scored in his career so far. Suárez cited that his fans were there for him, since the beginning and over the years, from Montevideo to Madrid, from his first to his last goal.
Moreover, in relation to his 500th career goal, the Atlético Madrid star will be donating 500 soccer balls to youth clubs in the cities where he played throughout his football career. The list starts from Montevideo, Groningen, Madrid, Amsterdam, Liverpool, up to Barcelona.
In addition, Suárez expressed how thankful he was to his wife, Sofia, in a story he posted on his Instagram account. He shared that his wife saw his first score at the age of 18 and his most recent at the age of 34, where he netted his 500th and it made him fall in love each day that she's at her side. He stated that it is what they call a goal.

The Uruguayan striker
Before he was considered one of the best strikers in the world, the European Top Scorer and two-time winner of the 'Golden Boot', Luis Alberto Suarez Diaz, the 34-year-old man from Uruguay started his whole career playing under his own flag, as he played for Nacional Youth Club. His debut in the international scene came in 2007 when he was suited up for the Uruguayan team that reached the knockout stage of the 2007 U20 World Cup in Canada, ESPN reported.
Suarez came into prominence due to his technique of directly running towards the goal and for going through the legs of his opponents which is known as nutmegging. But aside from his flashy moves in the field, he also became famous after biting Italian defender, Giorgio Chiellini in their match in the 2014 World Cup.
But for some sports analysts, the aggressive nature of Suarez's playstyle was attributed to his harsh environment while growing up in Uruguay. Despite the challenges in his life, he managed to be successful because of the guidance of his childhood sweetheart, and now his wife, Sofia. The couple has two kids namely Benjamin and Delfina, The Famous People reported.
