Ted Cruz: Migrant Crisis Created by Biden's Political Decisions
Republican Senator Ted Cruz has discussed the ongoing migrant influx at the southern border, saying that the migrant crisis is a "direct result of political decisions made by President Joe Biden."
"Even Biden's DHS secretary admitted we're seeing the highest volume of illegal immigration across the southwest border in 20 years. Just last month, in February, there were over 100,000 illegal aliens," Ted Cruz said as Fox News reported.
On the other hand, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi insisted that the President had the immigration situation under control during a press conference at the Capitol last week.
Pelosi added that Biden is approaching the situation in a more humane and value-based way as compared to former president Donald Trump, The Sun reported.
But border patrol officials are telling a different story, saying that they are being overwhelmed with the increase of migrants coming to the U.S.-Mexico border.
Ted Cruz has accused the president of hiding information after a request to bring reporters to a visit to the border was declined.
"Next week, I'm bringing 15 senators to the border. DHS said NO to our request to bring media," the senator said in the report. Ted Cruz added that the cause of the migrant crisis is the promise of "amnesty," according to a CBS News report.

Biden has raised some eyebrows in his own party and is being questioned by his Republican opponents after the migrant surge at the border.
He also was accused of lacking transparency with the media and the restrictions he imposed at the border, AFP News reported.
According to Trump, the current migrant situation is insane, and nothing can be compared to what will happen in the coming months. Biden said he would go to the border himself at some point.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Monday that the border is not open, and most migrants at the border are being turned away.
Psaki added that they are focusing on the expedition of the processing at the border and ensuring that the unaccompanied migrant children can get shelters as soon as possible.
About 5,200 children are being held in migrant facilities meant for adults, according to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Also, over 600 of the children have been in there for more than 10 days, surpassing the days that the law allows, which is a maximum of three days.
The majority of the migrants encountered at the border this year have been single adults, primarily from Mexico, and often deported. Sometimes these migrants cross the border multiple times.
Mayorkas noted that unaccompanied minors were exempt from the expulsions policy. Reuters reported that only around 15 percent of families arrested on Mar. 17 were expelled based on the Customs and Border Protection data.
The Biden administration has announced that an $86 million contract was in place to house some families identified vulnerable in U.S. hotels for processing.
