PS4 vs. Xbox One News, Games, Price, Comparison: Sony Still Leading in Console War
Sony continues to lead the next-gen console war, as its PlayStation 4 has sold far more units than Microsoft's Xbox One, Forbes reported.
At last year's E3, where the two powerhouses showed off their consoles, PS4 was reportedly the indisputable winner even before the products had been released.
At E3 2014, Sony executives seemed confident that their future is still shining brightly -- more brighter than the competition's.
Forbes listed the top five reasons consumers should consider picking up the PS4 instead of the Xbox One if they haven't done so already: Sony exclusives, PlayStation Now, PlayStation TV, original programming and better sharing.
Microsoft has "Halo 5" and "Forza Horizon 2" under its belt for exclusive content, but Sony announced at the gamer conference last week that it would be releasing "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" and "LittleBigPlanet 3" exclusively for the PS4.
Sony also announced it would be the first to release the game "Destiny" on July 17 during an exclusive beta period. The game will be bundled with the PS4 console for a special white edition.
The company touted its relationships with notable indie developers as it announced exclusive releases for "Hotline Miami 2," "Broforce" and "No Man's Sky," to name a few.
The long-awaited PlayStation Now was officially announced at E3 to be launched July 31 with a U.S. beta. The device is essentially a service that allows gamers to stream more than 100 classic PlayStation titles to a PlayStation 3, PS4 or Vita, according to Forbes.
Similarly, Sony announced that PlayStation TV, a device that lets users stream PS4, Vita and legacy PlayStation titles to a television, will be available in the U.S. for $99, in Europe for 99 euros and in the UK for £85.
Sony has also gotten itself into the original content game following in the footsteps of Netflix, Amazon and now Microsoft. The company announced it is producing a series called "Powers," based on the graphic novel by comic book legend Brian Michael Bendis.
And lastly, Forbes cited Sony's announcement of the PS4's one touch sharing ability to YouTube as one reason the PS4 is the superior console. The feature, which will be added before the end of the year, allows gamers to post "headshots, lap records, great goals and more" to their personal YouTube channels.
