Major, one of President Joe Biden's German Shepherds, has bitten another White House employee. According to a Mail Online report, the incident was confirmed by First Lady Jill Biden's press secretary Michael LaRosa.

It happened three weeks after the first biting incident in the White House that involved a security officer. At the time, reports said Major was displaying aggressive behavior, including barking, jumping, and charging at White House staff and security members.

Because of what happened, the Biden family was forced to send both Major and Champ home to Wilmington, Delaware earlier this month.

The two dogs received training there. But last week, the two German Shepherds were transferred back to Washington, D.C.

Major's Second Biting Incident

In the recent biting incident, LaRosa told CNN that a National Park Service employee was taken to the White House Medical Unit for treatment after Major "nipped" him while out for a walk.

LaRosa said the individual was sent to the hospital "out of an abundance of caution" and then returned to work.

According to BBC, LaRosa noted that the biting incident on Monday was due to Major still adjusting "to his new surroundings."

Major, 3, and Champ, 13, both German Shepherds, moved to the White House about a week after President Biden's inauguration last January. Major is the White House's first ever rescue dog.

President Biden and His Dogs

Although Major is expressing violent episodes, considering his two biting incidents that involved two different White House employees, President Biden continued to take the side of his beloved pet.

"Eighty-five percent of the people [from the White House] love him," said Biden in an interview earlier this month. The President noted that Major is a sweet dog that keeps on wagging his tail and licks the employees.

He said Major moves to protect and reacts to people that he doesn't know. However, he acknowledged that there are people who are afraid of dogs, to begin with, and he understands that.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki also earlier defended the German Shepherd. Psaki said that Major was only "getting acclimated and accustomed to their surroundings and new people."

President Biden and the first lady adopted Major in 2018 from an animal shelter. On the other hand, the Bidens adopted Champ after former President Barrack Obama's winning in 2008.

Reports said the German Shepherds of the Biden family were allowed to roam on the White House grounds without their leash, and they were often featured on Oval Office photos' background.

Some presidential families who resided in the White House have dogs who also accompanied them during their terms.Among these famous dogs are Portuguese Water Dogs, Bo, and Sunny, of the Obamas.

Former President Donald Trump was the only president who stayed in the White House without a pet dog.
