Adjusting to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the White House released an Easter video of United States President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden on Sunday. Biden emphasized on his Easter message that Americans should treat the ongoing vaccination as a 'moral obligation.'

Same Sentiments with Pope Francis

The White House made adjustments to the traditional presidential events revolving around the Easter holiday. As the vaccines are continuously distributed and administered by government health officials, the annual Easter egg roll, which has been a White House tradition since the late 1800s, took place virtually this year. Also, the Easter video, which was released on the official Twitter account of the U.S. president, references Pope Francis, and the New Testament. However, Biden did not mention the name of Jesus.

According to Fox News, President Biden said that he shares the same sentiments with Pope Francis, who previously mentioned that getting vaccinated means doing the moral obligation as it will not only save the life of the vaccinated person but also the lives of others. Biden also shared that taking the vaccine and encouraging congregations along with communities do not only beat the virus but also hasten the day when Americans can celebrate the holidays together.

Moreover, the president also pointed out that despite the rollout of numerous vaccines worldwide, the virus is not gone and said that the pandemic continuously put hardships on the majority of people around the world. Biden also mentioned that many are still spending hloidays apart from their families and friends.

Biden: Easter Presents Hope

Despite the challenges faced because of the ongoing pandemic, Bidens expressed optimism as they emphasized that Easter presents hope for better times. The president also said that the Gospel of John is a reminder for people that the light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. While Mrs. Biden also shared that the traditions of Holy Week will take people on a journey from sorrow to salvation, People reported.

Meanwhile, celebrating the first Passover as the Second Couple of the U.S. last week, Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, went to Los Angeles on Sunday. The White House has sent out the schedule of Harris all over the weekend.

In addition, safety measures ad social distancing protocols prompted the White House Historical Association to create a website wherein families will be able to participate in scavenger hunts, puzzles, bingo games, and other activities while celebrating Easter Sunday. In the history of the U.S., President Joe Biden is the second Roman Catholic President, following former president John F. Kennedy. But the majority of the U.S. presidents have been affiliated with Christianity or even in a related form.

Furthermore, Biden, who is the 46th president of the U.S., has previously mentioned that his religion is his moral guide. Biden also centered his first speech as the president-elect in November around the hymn 'On Eagle's Wings.' The President mentioned that it captures the faith which he and he also believes that it is also sustaining America, The Boston Globe reported.
