A judge has denied Britney Spears' request to have her father removed from her conservatorship. Her father, Jamie Spears, is her sole conservator.

The judge cannot make any ruling based on what she has said to last week's hearing as she has yet to file a petition to terminate her conservatorship, Variety reported.

The court document noted that Britney Spears' request to suspend Jamie Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company of California as sole conservator of the estate is denied without prejudice.

Spears' attorney, Samuel Ingham III, had filed to have her father remove in November 2020. He said that his client was afraid of her father and would refuse to perform again if her father continued to be in charge of her career.

Judge Brenda Penny at the time denied suspending Jamie Spears from the conservatorship. However, she did not rule out future petitions for his removal or suspension. Penny had also appointed financial company Bessemer Trust as a co-conservator at the time.

Britney Spears' Court Testimony

Britney Spears testified that she had been forced to work against her will, adding that her conservatorship has blocked her from getting married or removing her birth control so that she could have another child, The Guardian reported.

The pop singer also said that her boyfriend is also prohibited from driving her in his car and she cannot see certain friends.

The conservatorship has been in place for 13 years, with a licensed conservator in place, a corporate fiduciary, and her father having control over her estate, career, medical care, and other aspects of her personal life.

Britney Spears had also apologized to her fans for putting on a brave face and pretending she's ok for the past two years. She said that she did it because of her pride.

"And I was embarrassed to share what happened to me... but honestly who doesn't want to capture their Instagram in a fun light!" she added.

Britney Spears said she was forced to perform on tour when she did not want to. She compared the situation to sex trafficking.

She further noted that she wanted to hire her own attorney instead of being forced to rely on the one appointed by the court.

Celebrities and activists have rallied in support of the pop star over the last few days. Some were clamoring for her to be urgently freed from the conservatorship.

Jamie Spears as His Daughter's Conservator

Her father had emphasized in a pair of documents filed late Tuesday night, June 29, that he has had no power over Spears' personal affairs for nearly two years, First Post reported.

Jamie Spears said in his filing that the court must investigate serious allegations on forced labor, forced medical treatment and therapy, as well as improper medical care and some limitations on personal rights.

Jamie Spears oversees her daughter's money and business dealings along with an estate-management firm.

One of the court filings noted that Jamie Spears had not been the conservator of the person since September 2019. His attorneys said that he missed his daughter and was sorry to see her in pain.
