Marvel Heroes & Studios: Company Considers Standalone 'Hulk' Film, 'Avengers' Star Mark Ruffalo Says
Hulk movies have come and gone, only to disappoint fans of the superhero.
Now, Mark Ruffalo, who played the Hulk in "The Avengers," has said that Marvel is considering a movie for the green alter ego of Bruce Banner, notes Digital Spy.
"I think -- for the first time -- [Marvel] is entertaining the idea of it," Ruffalo said. "When we did 'Avengers,' it was basically 'no.' And now I think there's some consideration for it."
But Ruffalo was just as quick to let everyone know that these plans are far from finalized.
"There's not even a skeletal version of what it would be," he said. "So I look forward to going down that road if we could crack that nut -- I think the Banner/Hulk storyline isn't an easy nut to crack."
Ruffalo said that something like making "Iron Man 4" and including the Hulk would make him happy.
Lou Ferrigno, Ed Norton and Eric Bana previously played the Hulk, and it was thought that Norton was going to be part of "The Avengers" movie. He even met with director Joss Whedon, and was supposedly very excited about the role that he told his agency to keep his schedule open, according to Screen Rant.
Ruffalo previously said he'd love to partake in a Hulk movie with an environmentalist plot.
"As a culture, when we latch onto a fad, we're actually working something out in the creative subconscious," he said. "The fact that all these doomsday and end-of-times movies are coming out is because we're actually working that out in the culture. I'm in 'The Avengers,' but if you took my screentime it would come to about ten minutes, along with the 12 other people I'm sharing the screen with, so my input's kind of limited on that. But if we get to a standalone Hulk movie, I'll have a much better chance to do that."
Whedon had previously said that a Hulk film presents challenges because the Hulk is not all superhero.
