MLB Extends Trevor Bauer's Administrative Leave Amid Sexual Assault Probe
The Major League Baseball (MLB) has extended the administrative leave given to Trevor Bauer as the investigation into the sexual assault allegations against the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher continues.
Early this month, Trevor Bauer was placed on administrative leave after a woman had made allegations of sexual assault. ESPN reported that the extension came on the last day of Bauer's initial leave with the consent of the MLB Players Association (MLBPA).
The MLBPA is the association that grants consent on any extension of administrative leave that guarantees the full compensation and service time of players during investigations.

On Thursday, July 8, the MLB took to Twitter to announce that the administrative leave issued to Trevor Bauer would be extended for seven more days.
"With the agreement of the Player's Association, MLB has extended Trevor Bauer's placement on Administrative leave for an additional 7 days," the MLB tweeted, adding that the decision would be effective on Friday, July 9.

CBS Sports reported that the extension issued to Trevor Bauer would give MLB more time to marshal and study the evidence in the case before they decide on his status.
In a joint agreement that governs such situations, the outlet noted that the MLB could give out discipline, including long suspensions, regardless of the outcome of the legal system.
Trevor Bauer's team, Los Angeles Dodgers, has canceled the pitcher's bobblehead night scheduled on August 19. The team also removed Bauer's merchandise from their official online stores, saying they felt it was not "appropriate" amid the investigations.
Investigations on Trevor Bauer's Case
MLB's extension of the administrative leave and the Dodgers' cancellation of Trevor Bauer's bobblehead night came out after the woman accused Bauer of sexual misconduct, detailing her sexual encounter with the MLB player.
The restraining order filed against Trevor Bauer revealed that the woman allegedly visited a doctor with two black eyes and bulging bruised lips.
The woman also stated that she felt a terrible pain in the back of her ears and tasted blood in her mouth. The woman also alleged that she felt her lips has split open.
Citing an Athletic interview, CBS reported that the alleged victim disclosed that she agreed to have sex with Bauer.
"I agreed to have consensual sex; however, I did not agree or consent to what he did next," the woman said, emphasizing that she did not agree to be sexually harassed.
The last of the two sexual encounters happened on May 16 at Bauer's home in Pasadena, California.
Despite the allegations, USA Today Sports cited a statement from Bauer's co-agents Jon Fetterolf and Rachel Luba, saying that they refute the woman's claims "in the highest possible terms."
"Mr. Bauer vehemently denies her account of her two meetings," the statement reads.
Trevor Bauer can formally respond to the sexual allegation against him on July 23 hearing. USA Today Sports reported that the judge would determine whether the restraining order against him should be lifted.
