Nearly five months after the death of "Friday" star Anthony Johnson, an autopsy report has revealed that the 55-year-old died from excessive alcohol use, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office.

Johnson died from a multi-system organ failure, the autopsy report shows. His family told authorities that the actor drank a lot of alcohol and used narcotics occasionally, per USA Today.

The office also found that Johnson had tested positive for COVID-19, but signs of pneumonia were not detected. Although no alcohol or commonly abused drugs were found in his system at the time of his death, the medical examiner determined that he died from "chronic ethanol use."

The "House Party" actor died in September when his nephew found the actor unresponsive inside a Los Angeles store. He was rushed to a hospital and pronounced dead shortly.

Johnson's Widow Creates Foundation To Raise Awareness

His widow, Lexis Jones Mason, told TMZ that she plans to start a foundation in Anthony's honor and that she wants the reason for his death to be made public in order to raise awareness about the hazards of alcohol, Daily Mail reported.

Mason made headlines just days after Johnson's death in September, when she stated that she and her family were having financial difficulties paying for her husband's funeral cost.

"We're raising money because I have to pay for this all out of pocket," Mason told TMZ.

Mason previously told the publication that they have been getting "fake love" in the wake of the comedian's sudden death as their crowdfunding efforts have significantly fallen short.

The family had set up a GoFundMe account in the hopes of raising funds for a service and burial, but donations had only reached just under $800 at the time of her interview with TMZ.

However, thanks to a flood of donations, including $5,000 from Migos rapper Offset, they were able to raise nearly $56,000.

Johnson's New Tombstone for His 56th Birthday

In celebration of the "Friday" star's 56th birthday last February 1, Jonhson got a fancy tombstone on his grave, designed by the same person that built awesome grave markers for Eazy-E and Nate Dogg, per TMZ.

Cemetery Tim, the man behind the cool celeb gravestones, told sources that he got in touch with Anthony's family after his passing.

The gravestone has images that highlight Anthony's career, showing him as Ezal in the 1995 Ice Cube-Chris Tucker classic "Friday," and another picture of Anthony as E.Z.E. in 1990's "House Party." The inscription reads, "Don't cry for me, I lived and made your ass laugh... tell me I'm lying!"

Mason worked with Tim on the design, which also includes the late actor's signature.

Tim claims that he did all of Anthony's gravestone work for free.

Johnson's representative, LyNea Bell, confirmed his death at the time, calling Johnson an "iconic legend of stage and screen," told USA TODAY.

Johnson had left "amazing memories of his laughter, dynamic acting skills," according to Bell, but most especially "his enormous personality and heart of gold."

Johnson, who was also known to fans as A.J. Johnson, appeared in several movie roles, including 1993's "Menace II Society," 1997's "B*A*P*S*," and 1997's "The Jamie Foxx Show."

He most recently appeared in the films "Office Staff" from 2015 and "I Got The Hook Up 2" from 2019.

Johnson's death came less than one year after his "Friday" co-star, Tommy "Tiny" Lister, died in December 2020 at age 62.
