The three men who allegedly murdered Hector Camacho in 2012 were extradited from the U.S. to Puerto Rico, where they will be formally charged.

A law enforcement official told Daily Mail that Jesus Naranjo, Joshua Mendez, and an unnamed third suspect arrived in Puerto Rico on Tuesday and would appear before a judge on Wednesday.

Authorities in Puerto Rico are expected to formally charge the three men not only for the murder of Hector "Macho" Camacho but also of Adrian Mojica, the boxer's childhood friend.

According to the local newspaper El Vocero, the Bayamon district attorney's office did not charge the suspects as a witness refused to cooperate and moved from the Caribbean island to Maryland.

However, a law enforcement agent told Daily Mail that a witness has now stepped forward to help solve the three-division boxing champion's murder.

Hector Camacho's Murder in Puerto Rico

Hector "Macho" Camacho was sitting in a passenger seat of a parked Ford Mustang driven by Adrian Mojica when they were both fired at outside a bar in his hometown of Bayamon, Puerto Rico on November 20, 2012.

Authorities said Mojica was the intended target of the gunmen, who were contracted to rob him of several kilos of cocaine inside his car and kill him. Mojica was declared dead at the scene, while Camacho, who was shot in the face, was taken to a hospital.

Dr. Ernesto Torres, the director of the Centro Medico trauma center in Puerto Rico, reported the veteran boxer's death on November 24, The New York Times reported.

Torres noted that Camacho suffered a heart attack before being taken off life support at the request of his family and was declared brain dead.

At the time, police noted that the bullet hit Camacho's jaw, fractured two vertebrae, and lodged in his shoulder. Authorities also said that nine bags of cocaine were found in Mojica's pockets, with the 10th packet discovered openly in the car.

Hector Camacho was survived by his mother, father, three sisters, a brother, four sons, and two grandsons. The professional boxer was married once and divorced.

Several days after the murders, authorities took Naranjo and Mendez into custody. They were allegedly seen riding in a vehicle spotted near the shooting scene.

Naranjo was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2017 for the July 2016 kidnapping of his ex-girlfriend and her son, while Mendez has been in federal custody since January 2018 following drug trafficking and weapon charges.

Who Is Hector 'Macho' Camacho?

Hector "Macho" Camacho had a professional record of 79-6-3 with 38 knockouts and several high-profile victories, according to Bleacher Report. He was known to have coined his own catchphrase: "What time is it? It's Macho Time!"

Camacho was born in Bayoman, Puerto Rico. However, his family soon moved to the Harlem area of New York City. He was reported to often end up in trouble and fights. It was then that Camacho took up the sport of boxing to keep him out of trouble.

He won three New York Golden Gloves titles. As a professional boxer, he won his first 21 fights that led to his first world title bout for the vacant WBC super-featherweight crown. 

Camacho won world championships in three weight divisions. He won over an impressive array of names in his long career, including Freddie Roach, Rafael "Bazooka" Limon, Jose Luis Ramirez, and Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini.

Hector Camacho was reportedly amongst the greatest fighters from Puerto Rico, behind Felix Trinidad, Wilfredo Vazquez, and Miguel Cotto.
