Elon Musk Slammed by Truth Social CEO David Nunes for Being Twitter's Biggest Shareholder
Truth Social CEO David Nunes on Tuesday downplayed the significance of Elon Musk's new achievement, becoming Twitter's biggest shareholder.
In an interview with "Just The News - Not Noise," Nunes made his comments about the SpaceX founder, acknowledging that Musk wanted to reopen free speech on Twitter, Washington Examiner reported.
However, the Truth Social CEO slammed the Tesla CEO for choosing Twitter as his platform for making free speech available once again.
"[Twitter] is full of thousands of people that clearly don't like Republicans and are very hardcore left-wing," underscored.
Nunes also said that he does not see any change coming to Twitter, contending that what the users see on the social media platform now is "nice window dressing" that covers the social media tech tyrants, Washington Examiner noted.
Truth Social Will Welcome Users Barred From Twitter, David Nunes Says
In the interview, Nunes also assured that Truth Social will welcome all the users that have been barred from using Twitter, but the Truth Social CEO did not mention specific steps on how to encourage them to use the app.
Meanwhile, Truth Social was placed under fire as users experienced problems almost immediately after its release in February, Newsweek reported.
One of the technical problems former President Donald Trump's social media platform gets from users is that they were unable to set up their profiles.
According to reports, people were placed on waiting lists with hundreds and thousands of others ahead of them once they register for the app.
Newsweek noted that in April, Truth Social's waiting lists still exist with now more than one million people in the queue.
In addition, Washington Examiner also mentioned that investors of Truth Social have been pulling out, and the sign-ups for the app have dropped 93 percent since it went available online.
Truth social is also currently ranked 173rd most popular app in Apple's App store, per Newsweek.
Nunes did not address the problems Truth Social is currently experiencing, but he spoke optimistically about the app during his interview with "Just The News - Not Noise."
"I think quickly here, we're moving faster and faster towards being able to bring everybody on the platform, and then also we're going to have the web application open soon," Nunes underscored.
Elon Musk Joins Twitter's Board Members
Nunes made his comments about Musk after reports surfaced that the Tesla CEO would be joining Twitter's board members after becoming the company's biggest shareholder.
According to Fox Business, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal led the announcement of Musk's appointment, claiming that the SpaceX founder is both a passionate believer and intense critic of the service, which the company needs. Several board members also hopped in to express their excitement over Elon Musk joining their team.
Independent Twitter Board Chair Bret Taylor that they are all excited to work with Musk and build Twitter's future together.
Meanwhile, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey also celebrated Elon Musk's joining the board, claiming that Agrawal and Musk will be an incredible team.
Elon Musk has not yet formally announced his plans with Twitter, but in a reply to Agrawal, the Tesla CEO noted that he is looking forward to making significant improvements to the social media platform.
