SNAP Benefits 2022: Here's What You Need To Do If You Lose Your EBT Card
SNAP Benefits 2022 from the federal government has yet to be announced. However, some states have taken the matter into their own hands to address the need of their respective residents.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has authorized some states to hand out emergency allotments under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act through the end of May 2022.
Go Banking Rates noted that these states are the District of Columbia, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.
The emergency allotments will be transferred to Electronic Benefit Transfer cards or EBT cards, which can be used in all 50 U.S. states.
However, recipients should be careful with their EBT cards as someone else may be able to spend their benefits if their EBT card is lost or stolen.

EBT Card Protection
Recipients can protect their EBT cards with a PIN code that should be known only to them, according to another Go Banking Rates report.
Having access to the PIN code can unlock all the benefits of the card. If you think someone has access to your PIN or handed that information out to a third party, recipients should call their state's EBT customer service line and ask for a change of PIN code.
Meanwhile, SNAP benefits are subject to lose if your EBT card is lost or stolen. However, there are certain ways to address the issue such as calling customer service right away at 877-328-9677.
California Department of Social Services noted that recipients can also wait through two card number prompts without entering their EBT card number.
Once reported, instruction will be given on how to get a new card while also disabling your lost EBT card.
If your EBT card is damaged and does not work at retail or ATM locations, you should request a replacement EBT card as soon as possible.
However, EBT cards may not be replaced if an unauthorized person with your PIN number takes your benefits.
