Vanessa Guillen Murder Case: Fort Hood Soldier Killed by Fellow Soldier After She Saw Photo of His Married Lover on His Phone's Lock Screen
New details emerged Tuesday on the murder of Vanessa Guillen, a Fort Hood Army specialist who was killed in 2020 by a fellow soldier.
According to Daily Mail, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed that Aaron Robinson killed fellow soldier Guillen after she saw a photo of Robinson's married lover, Cecily Aguilar, on his phone.
KWTX reported that a newly released court document filed by the Texas DPS revealed the motive in Guillen's murder. The document included information from interviews with Aguilar.
It was filed this year in a "Second Motion to Suppress" meant to exclude evidence obtained in the case. According to reports, the document stated that when asked why Robinson killed his fellow soldier, Aguilar said Guillen noticed the lock screen on Robinson's phone that contained Aguilar's picture.
After seeing her picture on Robinson's phone, Aguilar told investigators that Robinson hit the female soldier in the head with a hammer. Aguilar said Robinson was worried about getting in trouble for violating the Army's fraternization rules since she was still married to another soldier.
Investigators believe that after bludgeoning Guillen to death with a hammer, Robinson removed her body from an armory at Fort Hood in Texas and dismembered her, and then buried her remains on April 22. Investigators also learned that Robinson was the last person Guillen spoke with before she met her demise.
Authorities, who interviewed some individuals, said Aguilar's husband reportedly suspected the affair. However, the "Army Criminal Investigations Division would not do anything about it."

Cecily Aguilar's Involvement in Vanessa Guillen's Murder Case
Cecily Aguilar is the only person charged in Vanessa Guillen's murder case. Aguilar has been indicted on 11 counts by a federal grand jury for her involvement in Guillen's death.
The 11-count indictment includes charges of accessory after the fact, conspiracy to tamper with documents, issuing false statements, and destruction of records in a federal case.
The indictment came down last July 13 or a month after a Texas judge denied Aguilar's motion, asking that her confession be thrown out. Aguilar was accused of helping Aaron Robinson in dismembering and hiding the body of Guillen.
Guillen's family lawyer, Natalie Kwaham, earlier said that Robinson needed help in disposing of Guillen's body. This was when he contacted his girlfriend, Aguilar.
Both of them allegedly used a machete to dismember the body parts of the deceased Fort Hood soldier. They then hid Guillen's body in a Pelican case and dumped it in the Leon River area. Aguilar's role includes destroying the body of Guillen, as well as issuing false statements in the federal case.
A court indictment read that Aguilar corruptly alters, destroys, mutilates, and conceals any record, document, and object with the intent to impair its availability for use in an official proceeding.
Cecily Aguilar was arrested in June last year. On the other hand, Robinson took his own life when confronted by police after Guillen's remains were discovered.
Vanessa Guillen's Death
Vanessa Guillen went missing for months until some of her remains were found buried in a shallow grave along the Leon River in June 2020.
Contractors working on a fence along the Leon River discovered what appeared to be human remains. Guillen's bones, hair, and other remains were reportedly found.
It was earlier reported that Aaron Robinson even attempted to burn Vanessa Guillen's remains with his girlfriend. Cecily Aguilar has pleaded not guilty to all charges against her. She could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted, with a maximum fine of $250,000.
