Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Specs, Weight, Price and Review: Macbook Air Trade-ins up to $650 at Retail Stores
Microsoft said in an announcement today that the company would be offering store credits of up to $650 in value for customers who will trade in their working MacBook Air laptops.
With a tag price of $799 for the base model, the Surface Pro 3 can be obtained from Microsoft for a discounted price of just $150 with the trade-in discount in one of the company's retail stores. However, no exact models of MacBook Air have been specified by Microsoft nor the necessary conditions or requirements to achieve the maximum credit of $650.
The terms and conditions nonetheless state that for the MacBook Air to be eligible for trade-in it must be working, undamaged by water with no cracked screens, and even then the value may still vary depending on the condition of the unit. Accessories and documentation may also be considered in the trade-in.
During the official unveiling of the Surface Pro 3, it was heavily compared with the MacBook Air -- both by tech analysts and Microsoft itself. The trade-in offer is an obvious attempt by the tech giant to convert Mac users over to its latest product. Previously, the earlier versions of the Surface were designed to be competing with Apple's tablets, but now Microsoft is going head-on with the lightweight laptop by rival Apple.
The Surface Pro 3 boasts of a thin design with a 12-inch display with options of Core i3, i5, or i7 processors. This laptop-tablet hybrid also offers the new Surface Pen stylus that can detect 256 different levels of pressure sensitivity. Surface Pro 3 is available from $999 to $1,949 at maximum specifications. Although there may be many points of comparison between the MacBook Air and the Surface Pro 3, the latter is definitely lighter. However, given that it is a hybrid product, tech analysts and users alike are still confused as to whether or not it should be compared with laptops, ultrabooks, and tablets.
