Last July, Gutierrez was placed on administrative leave with pay after a Texas House committee investigation reveals that then-Principal Gutierrez has known about the faulty lock on Room 111, where the gunman entered the school.

Despite numerous reports from the classroom teacher, Gutierrez has not prepared a work order to have the lock fixed.

Aside from this, Gutierrez never attempted to use the school's intercom system to give caution to other members of the student body and faculty that a gunman has entered the school promises.

Gutierrez, however, pointed out that she used an app called Raptor instead to start a lockdown. But of all times and places, she had difficulty making an alert and initiating it because of poor wi-fi signal, costing more lives endangered.

The former Uvalde elementary principal was the third among the key officers on that day who were placed on administrative leave since the shooting happened.

Lt. Mariano Pargas, the acting City Police Chief at the time, and Uvalde CISD Pete Arredondo, were also placed on the same status.

Meanwhile, the spot for the principal position at Robb Elementary School is filled immediately.

In the same press release that the Uvalde CISD released last week, Uvalde High School Assistant Principal Christy Perez will be filling in the spot that Mandy Gutierrez has vacated.
