Barack and his wife, Michelle Obama, have managed to stay relevant in his post-presidency.

While he had largely stayed out of the political spotlight in his post-presidency, unlike his successor, Donald Trump, his endorsement can still sway many to vote.

Like all former presidents, Barack Obama still has huge political influence. However, he spends much of his time on other issues, even as the United States approaches the midterm elections.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Barack Obama is worth approximately $70 million. The outlet used an estimate by Analytics@American, American University's business analytics program.

However, GOBanking Rates reported that Barack and his wife could make as much as $242.5 million post-presidency. The outlet noted that even out of office, the former president still rakes in a lot of money.

That includes his pension as a former president and various deals such as his and Michelle Obama's deals with Netflix. Barack also earns from the first volume of his memoir, "A Promised Land," which was released in November 2020.

It had managed to sell over 3.3 million copies in just one month. The book is now one of the top-selling political memoirs in history.

Barack Obama's Presidential Pension, Netflix, and Speaking Engagements

Barack Obama started his political career as a community activist. According to GOBanking Rates, Obama has gone back to those roots and has been working on several big issues such as gun control, race relations, and criminal justice reform.

He continued to raise awareness on key issues, even though he is no longer in office. Obama still receives a pension as a former president. Thanks to the 1958 Former Presidents Act.

The law states that former presidents must receive a salary equal to that of a cabinet secretary for the rest of his life. That means his annual pension is worth $205,700.

It includes other perks such as health insurance and Secret Service protection until his death. Obama also receives funds for an office, staff, and related expenses.

However, the former president's biggest source of income may be his deals with Netflix. While Netflix did not disclose any of the deal's financial details, experts reported that there had been similar deals valued at tens of millions over several years.

Obama also has his own production company called Higher Ground Productions. One of the company's documentaries, "American Factory, "even won an Academy Award.

They are working on various documentaries and series such as "Firekeeper's Daughter." Finally, there are his speaking engagements.

Together, the Obamas could make an estimated 50 speeches a year. They could earn "a conservative $200,000" per speech.

It was reported that Barack Obama was paid $400,000 when he spoke at a healthcare conference in September 2017.
