Donald Trump Special Master Allowed in Court to Review Mar-a-Lago Seized Documents | Here's What It Would Do
Former President Donald Trump emerged victorious after being granted to hire a special master or an independent reviewer of the seized FBI documents on his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida.
Federal Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee, granted his request after initially expressing her support for the former president of the United States.
The request for a special master came through despite harsh objections from the Department of Justice who had already finished the review of the seized documents.
Trump Mar-a-Lago Special Master: What Would They Be Doing?
Judge Aileen Cannon made public a 24-page letter granting Donald Trump to have a special master or an independent legal expert to review the seized highly-classified government documents from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida.
According to CBS News, Cannon allows Trump's special master to review the documents which were "potentially privileged material subject to claims of attorney-client and/or executive privilege."
Although Cannon enjoins the government to temporarily stop the review until the special master concludes the examination, this would not have to happen anymore as the intelligence community has already finished its review.
The same source also reports that the DOJ is still "examining the opinion and will consider appropriate next steps in the ongoing litigation." Trump and DOJ lawyers have to "meaningfully confer" until September 9 to draft a list of proposed special master candidates and detailed mechanics of the third-party review.
However, the special master review impedes the ongoing investigation that the Department of Justice is carrying out. Cannon pointed out that because of the "unprecedented circumstances" in place, the call for the temporary pause allows the "neutral, third-party review."
Despite the halting of the investigation, the intelligence community will still continue an assessment of Trump's alleged mishandling of the government records while they were in his possession, the Associated Press reports.

Trump vs. Biden in Pennsylvania Battleground Speech
President Joe Biden and Donald Trump are in an episode of their infamous word war as both face a different crowd in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, airing out their attacks on each other.
Last week, Biden, in his rare primetime speech, namedropped Donald Trump and called him out along with MAGA Republicans as "threats" to the very foundation of the republic as violence again law enforcement agents spiked after the Mar-a-Lago seizure.
Trump, days after, was relentless in his speech, as he did not hold back his words in calling Joe Biden the "enemy of the state." He has also claimed that the FBI ransacked Melania's drawers and Barron's room during the raid.
Meanwhile, legal experts say that the recent new claims do not add up to his alleged wrongdoing by the FBI as it was stipulated on the search order.
Similarly, experts have downplayed the impact of Trump's win on the request for a special master as it was neither a "devastating loss" for the government nor an "ovewhelming win" for the former president.
