Where Can You Use SNAP Benefits?
Depending on your location, there are additional ways to use your food stamp payments. Here are the free services and discounts for SNAP benefits recipients in Texas, California, and Florida.
Amazon Prime
People eligible for SNAP benefits in Texas, California, and Florida can sign up for a discount on Amazon Prime EBT. The monthly fee is $6.99, almost half the subscription price.
Farmers' Market
According to the Sustainable Food Center, curbside delivery, Fresh for Less mobile markets, and farmers' markets allow consumers who utilize P-EBT or SNAP to purchase twice as much food in Texas. In California, many farmers' markets double the amount of food EBT cardholders can purchase for up to $10 every visit. A statewide nutrition incentive program called Fresh Access Bucks (FAB), run by Feeding Florida, promotes SNAP participants in Florida to use their benefits at community grocery stores, farmers' markets, produce stands, and CSAs. You will receive $1 in Fresh Access Bucks if you use your EBT card to purchase $1 in fresh food. Here are the locations of the shops that double SNAP and P-EBT benefits.
Museums/Zoos/Aquariums
Through the Museums for All initiative, people with a Lone Star Card, CalFresh EBT card, and Florida EBT cardholders can get free or discounted entry to more than 600 museums, aquariums, and zoos across the country.
Computers/Internet/Cellphones
Through the Affordable Connectivity Program, qualified CalFresh recipients could receive a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer and a low-cost service plan covered by the ACP or a monthly discount of up to $30 on internet service (or up to $75 if they reside on qualified Tribal lands). SNAP recipients can also obtain a free cell phone through the Federal Communications Commission's Lifeline program.
Emergency SNAP
The Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program can assist Florida SNAP recipients who lost food due to Hurricane Ian in replacing it (D-SNAP). You must sign up in advance to receive benefits, and qualified households will get one month's worth of benefits equal to the maximum amount a SNAP household of their size can receive each month.
